Marcello Violi has undergone another operation on his injured shoulder after he aggravated the original injury in training. World cup now looks very doubtful, Callum Brayley may well end up on the plane to Japan by default

Baffling watching Treviso today.

All they need to do is win but keep going for 7 like they need the BP. Commentary's egging them on too.

What does everyone think of this idea? Petrarca replacing Zebre in the pro14

https://www.onrugby.it/2019/11/13/pro14 ... -scartare/

Sounds pretty bonkers to me, but it's certainly true that the Zebre have been an expensive failure

Parisse stepping down as captain, plans to play once or twice at most this 6 Nations

Who could replace him as captain, there doesnt seem to be many obvious candidates. Allan hasnt been in great form recently but is probably still certain to start every game, speaks English and Italian fluently so could be a decent shout

I would think Polledri is a good candidate.

Couple of thoughts, great to see Cannone and Biondelli in there as well as Fischetti

The biggest surprise is the return of Sgarbi. completely overlooked by O'Shea, but he was a crucial part of Franco Smith's Benetton team

Parisse's name is not on the list, but as mentioned previously he is only going to be involved in one or two games (probably at home v England)

Some news, Zebre head coach Michael Bradley has extended his contract another 2 years.

Also Negri and Lazzaroni have signed contract extensions at Treviso

Are you guys feeling optimistic about the 6 nations? I'm thinking Scotland in Rome is your best chance of getting a win in years.

How come Parisse isn't fully involved?

He was supposed to retire after the World cup, but as our match against New Zealand got called off he wants to bow out in front of the home fans so he will be involved later on, but I suppose he/they decided it would be better for the new captain & coach if he werent there for the time being

I am quietly confident going into this 6N, its going to be hard no doubt but there were enough positive signs from the world cup and Franco Smith is a very good coach, so we should see some good performances at least even if the results dont go our way

Braley signs for Treviso: https://www.onrugby.it/2020/02/06/benet ... dei-leoni/

Interesting development, I wonder what this means for the pecking order at Treviso?

Braley/Duvenage 1st/2nd choice
Trussardi distant 3rd choice
Tebaldi out?

I think it's a good move for him, it will help cement his place as first choice for Italy

I hope the Coronavirus scare does not postpone Parisse's swansong any further. Would be great to see him have a good last performance in Rome, just so long as you don't actually beat us.

Who's going to replace him as the totem of the side?

Franco Smith confirmed until 2024, Troncon also back in the set up (presumably taking the role that was meant for Smith)
