Delon Armitage YC...

Post by Red Chopper »

...for a hand-off? :o
http://www.punditarena.com/rugby/adrumm ... encounter/

No big fan of the bloke, but does seem a tad harsh - rep going before him, or just another example of the increasingly stringent application of the new tackle law?

Bit harsh but not really a hand-off though as he used his forearm.

He's a twat and has previous so that doesn't help...

Obvious hand-off. The blonde fellah then has a delayed-action "ooh, my poor facey-wacey"

This.

The amount of people crying over that one is almost infuriating. I get those who feel the accidental arm around the head / slip up thing is harsh, but that's a blatant forearm to the face. Was it ever allowed?

Cant watch that video at work, but I think the most important question is:

Was it on a scrum half?

Admittedly Armitage doesn't tend to annoy forwards as they are bigger than him.

Armitage has always been a talented player. He's got size, pace and skill. He just seems to get himself in trouble and eventually your reputation does go before you.

Still it was ony a SH.

If my memories of old-fashioned French slang are correct, that is an appropriate name for a scrummie (and I say that as a former scrummie)

wasn't a hand-off nor was it a forearm shot to the face, bit weak for a YC, if the tackler is going to go that high

gone are the days when a player spat a tooth out, smiled and uttered "is that the best you've got", now they are all stuart hogg act alikes

In real time and from in front, it does look like a forearm but TMO should have done better on it.

Still it's Felon so fück him.

DA used his forearm to fend off a player, who, admittedly, hammed his injury but it was illegal and deserving of a YC.

Felon is the biggest dirtiest cûnt in the T14 and has had that title for a long time. It's a shame as he could be a great player if he wasn't. His brother is fantastic, but seems that Felon got the full cûntyness dose between the 2 of them.

I doubt that would make page 67 of that Plum's list of indiscretions.

Farcical card.

Weird thread.

I joined expecting a discussion as to why Felon was not getting a Red Card ...

Confused :?

Christ almighty. If illegal, award a penalty but not a yellow...the slider's moving across too far for simple infringements.

speak to WR - they have come out with a new directive that the head is sacrosanct and contact with it runs the risk of a PK, yellow or red depending on the severity of contact.

In that case WR need to ensure that teams that place concussed players at risk are harshly dealt with.

Pen, for use of forearm. yellow seems a bit harsh, but then it's Delon so probably fair.

So players who run head down into an opponent should be sanctioned?

Agree completely. There have been some appalling decisions from teams to allow players to continue when clearly they are in the land of zod, to use the medical term

The severity of content is what I'm reacting to. You think contact was severe enough to award a YC, while I think that's soft. If judged illegal, I'd suggest a PK is more than enough and the baseline has been moved too far.

Maybe, maybe not. Let's see how this new directive pans out - if it stops such contact, then a few "harsh" ones at the start, maybe a necessary evil.

Homer is right it is a penalty at least. You've never been allowed to fend with your forearm, referees just haven't penalised the ball carrier. Bastereaud has been doing it for years and taken Sexton out of tests at least twice with forearms to the head/neck
