Cardiff is pretty inhospitable for the Welsh let alone anyone else! English are pretty much top of their "would like to pick a fight with" list but if there are no English around pretty much anyone else will do.
Cardiff for rugby is a terrible place; gap-toothed imbeciles pissing everywhere, punching buses, shouting about the English, and falling over in the street.

You see a more advanced level of civilisation in the darkest slums of Calcutta.

Truly the untermensch of world rugby

E280 flights with Aer Lingus flying Friday/back Sunday. Over normal market price, certainly, but not completely beyond the pale.

Should be a terrific weekend.

Book the flights now then, worse thing is you go to Dublin and watch rugby and have a beer.

The old Pontypridd ground, (going back a few years.) The one and only time I have been at a game and genuinely thought it would 'kick off.'

That was the same year that the some Pontypridd 'fans' and players thought they'd do their own miniature recreation of the Battle for France in the lovely little town of Brive. :uhoh:
Ponty are pusscats. The answer to the question is Gilfach Goch. There is literally no place in the world that is an unwelcoming as Gilfach Goch.
I'll raise you Penrhys, our bus was bottled when we went through Penrhys on the way to play in Tylorstown.
And that was by kids throwing their bottles and cans of beer at the bus. Well when they had finished their spliffs that is.
Gilfach is a paradise in comparison.
It was 30 years ago so much might have changed. Tylorstown rugby club was excellent though
Toilet-town boys are always good for a laugh. They were also perennially shit which meant visiting them was far more enjoyable. Penrhys is indeed rough. Was the second poorest place in the UK at some point I remember. The genius of building a town on top of a mountain and then filling it with council house fodder.
Pfft, you softies try going to these sort of places in a Monmouth jersey. :P

Not ones sneering at the opposition and dismissing their chances outright, anyway.
I think a lot of this is in your head.

My last trip to Murrayfield for a Calcutta Cup match gave me the distinct impression that the posh seats were occupied by the same Barbour brigade that you'd find at HQ, with a significant proportion having accents not so dissimilar from my own, while in the cheap seats I was joined by a significant number of guys who seemed to have little in the way of basic rugby knowledge and were more interested in booing the England team/any chorus of swing low than the game itself.
There's a lot of truth in that. Every other Scotsman (at Murrayfield) talks like Rob Wainwright and is called Alasdair.

If you have any tickets and aren't going then I would be very grateful if you pushed them my way. I'll pay for them and offer free tickets to Twickenham for 2018. Got flights and accommodation, lost out on the ballot for tickets at my rugby club to the Club Steward :frown:

Very true. It's usually not a problem for HQ tickets but the away tickets are issued out like regal patronage.

Which would be perfectly valid.

I've been twice, once on the Crumbie terrace where the Leicester fans were great, and once up in the gods when I got pulled back down into my seat when I stood up to celebrate a try.

Yeah I did, they were fine. We did lose 50-9 though so that may have had something to do with it.

"They think they're superior and a lot of them will come from the south-east, bags of money and bags of this and bags of that. They don't really appreciate the other team. In France they just boo the other team, in Argentina they boo the other team, in England it's just disdain. 'Why are we playing these plebs?' I don't like Twickenham; a concrete jungle, nothing attractive about it at all."

As a kid, my team used to play Lydney twice a year - Every player on their team was the same shape and size, like playing a bunch of retarded clones.

I once spent an evening drinking in the company of a former Major in the Marines who'd played inter-services rugby in the Corp and seen a fair bit of active service. He thought Lydney was quite a challenging place.

I've played at Lydney, Berry Hill, Cinderford, Drybrook et al and never had any problems mainly as I was too sh*t scared to touch the ball or tackle anyone
