What car do you drive?

And more importantly, how do you rate it and would you recommend it?

I've got a Toyota Corolla 1.6 for short runs and work. Not the most exciting car, but economical and reliable. Also an Isuzu KB250 4x2 double cab for longer trips with the family. Love the bakkie, fast enough and plenty of space.

Rentals, which often means Hyundai Elantras and i30s and the like. Quite an under-rated manufacturer.

Quite like the look of the Alfa SUV. Available later this year and coincides nicely with my works car plan.

Vauxhall Meriva 1.4 Turbo

Reasonably efficient eurobox. Car enthusiasts and petrolheads have to be some of the most tedious people around :P

Got a Ford Kuga and Fiesta (I get them cheaply through The Management's brother).

Plus a bit of exotica which will come out of hibernation in May.

And a tractor, which is a bit of a laugh.

Dodge Charger, but been driving it for a few years now and it's definitely time for a change.
Ford Explorer for work use.
Jeep Wrangler for play.

Don't laugh. I currently have to make do with my wife's car.

Same model and colour as this, my wife's car just have proper alloy wheels.

Actually not too bad to be honest. VERY basic (even reverse gear was an optional extra). No aircon which is a huge problem here in Durban.

But otherwise great for what we initially bought it for - to get her to and from work. Now we drive to the shops, or to the beach, and average between 100 and 200km per month. 155,000km on the clock, and it still gives us just below 20km/l, which considering the furthest we drive usually is 3km, and once per month 80km to visit my mom.

The car over which the court case is STILL looming, however, was an absolute pleasure to drive. Best car I ever owned. If.....or when....the court case is finally settled and goes in our favour, the bank will have to give us one of these back - just a brand new one. Previous one had 30,000km on the clock. :x

Also same colour, but with all extras:

Nissan Micra. Was about to lob an embarrassed emoji after that but on second thoughts, it's just the jammer for the city. Park it anywhere, feck all tax, feck all insurance, reliable as fook. Fabien Pelous still drives around an old Peugeot 406. That's my type of man.

I did, then changed my mind. Simply because we don't need anymore cars really. It was a bit of a fantasy.

Plus. We are now thinking about moving to France.

The kiddiwinks have flown the coop, the granddaughter can now get on an airplane and I could do with some warmer weather to ease the aches and pains.

The Management is pretty well fluent in French, the wife's son's wife teaches it (and Italian and German) so looks on the cards.

All courtesy of a couple of aunts who sadly passed away recently so we might not have to sell our current home and I'll still have the family house in Norfolk.

I think it's a beezer. OK it's a Ford but it does very well.

We've got all the bells and whistles on it. Make sure you get the reversing camera!

We have an auto. The gearchange is smooth as silk. It has clutches for 1 3 and 5 and 2 4 and 6

It also has four wheel drive, when you need it. It comes in when the CPU thinks the wheels are slipping.

Nice car. Ours is in white. Hardly shows the muck.

Happy to pop a pic up.

A 10 year old Renault Megane. Bags of character, bought it for a song, starts every time but the electronics are spectacularly unreliable and it has all kinds of weird engineering quirks which start out endearing and rapidly become frustrating. The process for changing the headlamp bulbs is utterly ridiculous. Thinking of chucking it in soon for something a bit more modern

Of course you do. My parents have lived in proper countryside for a decade now and have only just got something even vaguely resembling an SUV. You live in Essex, where the only piece of elevated ground is in a museum, and you drive a fucking Chelsea tractor. An Evoque, I'm guessing?

10 year old c. 310K Kms Santa Fé. Not changing until it dies. Mrs drives an 18 year old 350K+ Kms Honda HRV and the sodding thing just howls in laughter at our local mechanic when she takes it in for pre-NCT (Irish MOT) fettling. It's an automotive cockroach.

My BMW, Alfa days are well in the rear-mirror. I love cars but there are better things in life to piss money away on.

I'll get back to it when my young lad has flown the coop.

8yo manual XC90.

Never thought I'd own an SUV but the XC90 is great, all the kids, their mates, their kit.

Massive pillars and pimped rear windows so you have to be on the ball reversing, particularly in the dark.

Didn't come with the dolby stereo, so sound quality is usable but not great.

It really is a nice car.

Went to Antibes in it, when it was new, with the dog (Max) and everything. Stopped overnight at Troyes to meet an old pal.

But drove home all the way back. Fresh as a daisy.

The climate control is great. Sat nav not too bad, a bit sluggish (I had my Garmin and the Tom Tom running so was able to compare).

We have one that has the double opening rear door. The latest models do not appear to have that.

If there is anything else you'd like to know, just post.

Love this car so much. Resisting changing it for as long as I can. Great fun to drive on the country roads.
Not very practical for transporting the 2 year old and the dogs though.

I had one as my last car, the electrics are a disaster. Resale value was practically non existent. On the plus side that meant I was able to buy it as a four year old car with 30k on clock for 2950 euros

Had a few cars on my work scheme over the last few years but ditched that now due to the tax changes coming in April.

Took delivery of a BMW 335d Touring in September (which I am f*cking delighted with!) and t'other half is getting a Volvo XC60 next month. So that should see us good for the next 3 - 4 years

They are spontaneously combusting here in South Africa, leading to Ford recalling them.

I have the 1.4 TSI petrol Octavia Estate. Got everything I need. Have been very happy with it for the money and will probably run it until it starts letting me down. No issues in two and a half years I've had it so far.

Unfortunately my wife has it most days now as it's better for prams/babies and I'm using a Micra to get to work.

2013 Volvo V40 D2 automatic

77k miles so far, sweet as a nut. Does 60 mpg (=/- 3%).

Wheel at each corner, quiet, good stereo, gets me from a to b in comfort and a tiny amount of style.

My previous Volvo had done 203k miles when I sold it and I still don't know why I got rid.

2007 Ford Cmax Zetec 2.0 (automatic).

It's a driver's car...so drive it.

Fucker cost me £1100 in gearbox repair a mere 2 months after I got it. Everyone told me to get rid but it's been rock solid since then doing (until recently) about 20,000 miles a year, so yah boo sucks to all those people with their so-called 'advice'
