Why would Hogg be picked on the wing? Looks like a prospect but he's had a dip in form, so hardly likely to get picked instead of Jones who actually is a winger and is in form. Mind you, that probably rules him out.

Most times I'd be happy with Cus, but he's out of form. Blair has come back onto a game recently and he and Laidlaw are now working well together.

Rennie ahead of Barclay please.

I'm not going to say anything about Parks as it will just upset me.

What would be the other options at 10 ? Is Ruaridh Jackson still injured ?

The Hogg one is strange as he hasn't even played on the wing - but of course this Robinson we are talking about.

I dont think Robinson has ever selected a side with two small wingers - I would be astonished if he went with Evans and Jones.

The sycophant at the hootsman cant even bring himself to suggest that Parks just might be a f**king stupid idea.

Denton doesn't play 8 - so it will be interesting to see how he gets on. Great front foot player but can rarely be seen doing the hard yards for Embra.

Akkerman - we have an excellent 10 who happens to be captain of Embra - Greg Laidlaw.

WTF Hogg on wing?!? When was last time he played wing?he isn't even particularly quick.

Apparently ferret talking up Laidlaw ahead of parks today. I could search for a link if could be bothered but I can't so I won't.

I imagine a look at Scotland training yesterday gives us the backline - but wit kant peaheart was always going to start after the leak to hootsmon last week.

JRP, is that in the paper. I can see it on the web site.

Still not convinced about Parks. Or Denton for that matter though I'd rather him that the other option. I thought the leak last week said Vernon would start.

How can you be happy with a side that includes wit kant peaheart?

BTW, I saw your second name on your Sportsguru application - are you related to John?

Parks. :x I just can't see the logic. It's not as if Laidlaw can't kick. If we win, peaheart stays, if we lose then the momentum built up prior to the tournament is blown away. Depressing stuff. Why the fudge is Morrison on the bench? Baffling.

Jones and Evans on the wings...morrison, laidlaw, Blair, Barclay on the bench....May Parks not blow it before he departs...

Barring the bawbag at stand off, that's one of the more pleasing selections of recent years. I can only hope that Robinson's cunning enough to play the long game and, having decided Greeeg is the long term answer at 10, is trying to avoind chucking him straight in a la NDL and destroying his confidence for 5 years.

Very happy with the pack, that’ll test England. Cusiter at 9 is fair enough, as is 11 to 15, congrats to Lee Jones for getting his first start. I just can’t understand Parks, why Robbo? I’d honestly not be as bothered if we lost but played Laidlaw at 10 and ran with the ball. We’ve just given away the gameplan 4 days before the game. Plenty of time for them to get their back 3 practicing taking high ball. I understand we want to play in their 22 and test their lineout, but our lineout specialist is on the bench. I envisage this happening a lot during the game

Parks kicks into the 22
England win the lineout and clear to halfway
Scottish backs can’t get over the gainline
Parks kicks into the 22
and repeat

At least we have a plan B in the form of Blair and Laidlaw on the bench. Unfortunately I can see Morrison coming on at the same time as them, which might just negate any positive impact they could have. Glad to see Denton start though and of course no Godman.

Different John - the one I know is still alive - in his 80s now, lives near the Meadows in Embra.

Sorry to hear about your dad.

What sort of clueless deranged mind puts Morrison on the bench?

Laidlaw might not have many caps but he is an experienced guy who does not let things get to him on the pitch.

Completely agree with this. I am surprised with the wing selection - one new cap and one completely out of form; both at significant risk of being lobbed across the President's Suite by the England team in the post match reception. I don't wish injury on anyone, but if Parks was to pull his hammy this week, I wouldn't mind seeing Laidlaw take his place. Great that Rennie and Denton starting, although DD is going to need to put in a massive shift.

Happy with the pack but Denton will need a hell of a game. He hasn't started at 8 since when? The autumn? On the one hand, abject conservatism. On the other, wild risks.

Parks is a shocker but then the 12 options are Lamont and Morrison so Laidlaw's bredth of game would be lost. He still should have been picked but will need a decent 12 with him before he can make a real impact.

So disappointed with Parks being selected I cant bring myself to talk about it.

I actually do rate Robinson although wanted to see some real progress this 6N, but this is such a cowardly backward step.

Bets on Parks having the game of his life and kicking the winning drop goal? The fucker would do that just to piss me off.

I dont rate Robinson at all anymore, he can fudge off back to England the useless wit kant.

He may be a decent coach but he certainly isnt a selector, Parks is just such a bad selection in no way can it be justified with Laidlaw waiting in the wings.

I couldnt give a shit about saturday with that nugget at 10.

The boak inducing leak to the journos Hadden style made my skin crawl. He knows it's going to piss people off and he wanted to get it out there asap. I'd have had more respect for him if he'd just shut his gob, picked Parks and got on with it.

Sorry GWWG but that's rubbish - Laidlaw is the talented skillful one - he doesn't need a similarly skilled 12 to get a line moving. Look how good Embra looked with Laidlaw at 10 and that donkey Houston at 12.
