Yes; the Rock new #7 with the turnover. Waiting for our esteemed Rugby bloggers to say: 7s should have a look at him.

Here is hoping he is our George Smith in the making.

13-3 for BC; twenty minutes to go.

Rock have done well. Lack of higher end talent in the back line has hurt their chances.

A yellow to Parfrey. Good Lord our refs and assistants love giving cards. Thank heavens our hockey refs call the game differently.

It looks like Pat is still on the field.

BC with the Try with the Rock a man down. That should be the game, with 15 minutes to go.

BC with a terrible LO dart and some of the Blues sitting behind the throw having a good laugh at it.

Dressing room wall material, BC boys.

Wonderful try from the Rock: Johnson in from a great pass from Rock #13, Debove, I think. Perfect outside centre, wing play. 20-8 for BC.

That man again, the Rock #20, at #7 in for the Try after great work from the Rock pack. The legend Frank Walsh leading the forward way. Kick missed. 20-13 BC.

Game over 20-13 for BC. Rock controlled the second half but could not turn possession into enough points. A thoroughly enjoyable game.

My guy for the Rock took a terrific hit on the last play. The oppo are already realizing he is a key player.

Phelan my player of the game.

The Canada TV feed was good, only froze out a couple of times.

BC and Ontario meet Wednesday and Saturday; the Pack and the Rock do the same.

Whew, Rugby Canada are making sure the boys earn their money.

Over 19, 000 tickets sold for the Maori match now. Might have to get my ass over there now.

Does Canada have a new coach yet? Will any self-respecting coach with a decent resume consider the job? These are the important questions, that and how many points the Maori will ship in against them at BC place.

No; and probably not. And, really, what difference will it make? The NSMT has been bad since September 2013, a four year slide and with two Kiwi coaches.

Anscombe said "absolutely nothing" is being done for the rugby players in Vancouver, Toronto, Alberta and elsewhere east of the Rockies. So what is Rugby Canada going to do in the analysis after the American losses? They are going to centralize things even more on Vancouver Island. The exact opposite what needs to be done.

The CRC, said by RC to be the highest level of our domestic rugby, is on in Calgary. It is as "dead as heaven on a Saturday night." The players who show up for it still care, so it is the reason a few of us follow it; reason enough. Simon Blanks was quoted in The Telegram a couple of weeks back saying The Rock is willing to get of its backside and get the money to play, but if "Ontario and BC are not handed things on a plate," they are not interested in playing in the 'league.' And Ontario and BC are our two best and biggest unions.

The Maori match will give Rugby Canada a nice little earner, which is important. RC will likely have to make a number of arrangements with the overseas teams to have our best available for the match.

Prairie Dogs vs. the Fish:

See what a few young guys can do. The impressive #7 for the Rock is Moe Abdelmonem.

The first thing he does within 30 seconds of the game is a classic clean out of Gilmour, with the PD taking exception.

0-0 after 23 minutes. Best bit of play was some wonderful broken-field running by Johnson, who has been getting himself into the game.

First yellow of the game, to the Fish. What took so long?

Prairie Dogs take advantage; try to Bentley after multi-phases deep in the Fish end.

Passing of both backlines is very poor.

Albornoz in for the try after strong forward play by the 'Dogs. Gilmour playing well. 12-0.

Type it in and the Fish score from their scrummie. Great conversion from the touch line. 12-7.

Bad miss by Parfrey for a three pointer. 12-10 Prairie Dogs at HT.

Two more yellows. A couple of locks (Phelan and Fahlman) having at each other and the officials show them cards. Disappointing. I don't think I have ever seen a CRC game with less than two yellows.

Pack in for the try from a five metre scrum. Lovely conversion from Povey.

Prairie Dog front row the difference in the game, so far.

Sub time for the Fish: at #12, #8 and #9.

Rugby Canada, the next time you book three games in a week have the squads carry 30 players, ya cheap buggers.

Kyne with the try from an excellent off load from Samson. Kyne has had a great five minutes; excellent #8 man play. Too bad he is 20 pounds over weight and 10 years too old.

Povey with the convert: 26-7 Prairie Dogs.

Pocock in for the Try down the left wing.

Prairie Dog size and experience in their pack dominating the game.

Pocock with his second try. McCarthy and Carter with trys for the Fish. 41-19 FT.

Gilmour my MOM and he is back in the mix for the NSMT.

Johnson the pick of the Atlantics. He should be back with Canada A, unsure why RC wanted no part of him for the past 1 1/2 years. We need a bit of speed and elusiveness in the backline and Johnson is an option there.

BC #12 in for the try. Very weak attempted tackle by the Ontario FB.

Game quicker, snappier than the previous one.

BC #6 off to a good start.

7-0

Great off load by Windsor and Ontario in for the try by Campbell, taking advantage of their man advantage.

BC #6 is Travis Larsen. He is having a strong game, putting his hand up for the Canada A tour. Wonder if his brother Josh will come over from NZ?

And there is yellow #2. C'mon ref; it is a good game of rugby; don't ruin it with cards.

Well, it was a good game. The last 10 minutes have been dire. Ontario kill off a two man advantage.

I try not to be hard on the officials, but the poorest part of the CRC is the lack of quality officiating.
The players are amateur, not receiving a penny, trying their hardest to make someone at Rugby Canada take notice of their play. The last thing the players need is poor officiating. Howard's decision was silly, but not that silly, and it was nowhere near stopping a BC try opportunity. A penalty was all that was necessary.

Rant over; hopefully, the second half will kick in, again.

14-10 Ontario.

Rumball held up over the line. Ontario forwards could not punch it in.

Ferguson in from the fringes. I thought he was a bit slow marshaling his troops, but he got the job done.

The lack of skills in our regional backlines is very disappointing. There is not much on offer for the NSMT.

BC with the Try. Ferguson took out one his own players.

BC on the move. Ontario seem asleep.

Ferguson in with his second try; pickup from a ruck and reaches over the BC line. Good play.
