Funnily enough it was the backs (bar Farrell) who did well. But flyhalf is rather important, and you don't beat the All Blacks with 1 moment of brilliance.

The forwards were industrious, but they were standing off too much, had to be more aggressive. The locks weren't great, leaving more work for the backrow, who then tackled hard but hardly carried any ball.

The replacements were all shite.

Gatland's Welsh call ups might get a game yet.

Takes a special kind of shit coach to make Farrell/Sexton look limited but Gatland's your man
It is a ridiculous gameplan and policy, isn't it. x(
Farrell's overrated. Sexton should start the next test with Teo at 2nd. And maybe get Ford across in case Sexton is injured.

The locks were also not up to much. Maybe they should call up Launchbury as an option for the third test. but start Lawes and Itojo next test as Kruis is another star who is overrated. He isn't in the same league and the NZ locks.

Warburton gone from from the squad. Stander to the bench or maybe to 8 ahead of Faletau who wasn't great after a brilliant tour up to now.
Changes at lock. Both AWJ and Kruis were poor.
yes what the lions need is

a 10 who absolute wank at the moment

a number 8 who has been largely terrible on tour parachuted right into the test team

Both Irish players btw
Farrell wasn't good enough and Warburton shouldn't have been in the squad in the first place. CJ hasn't been at his best, but his workrate for the carry and tackle is peerless.

Dunno, I think with the right changes next week's game could be very competitive...it's the dead rubber after that that'll be a bloodbath.

Won't be popular but we lost this in the 9/10 axis.

Farrell ordinary tonight.
Murrays kicks fed the ABs and hes shit at the base of everything. Very slow delivery
Your halfback put 3 pin point up and unders that Ben Smith dropped. What game were you watching?
Webb scores.

Sorry but Murray's kicking was poor and fed the AB's. AB's will want him to play next week. And Farrell.

So too Farrell at 10.

Yes Kruis, POM, Mako. AWJ, Faletau _ George were quiet - and outplayed. But we need SPEED. 9 + 10 need changing
13 tackles made and completed, multiple line out steals and don't know how many carries. Just admit you don't like POM, it will be easier
POM had a great individual game and the effect his substitution had on the Lions tells his importance to the side.

Williams is a very exciting counter atttacker and will create try scoring opportunities for the his team.
Unfortunately he is also prone to brainfarts that cost his team and totally nullify the above.

You're right. I don't like him. But regardless he's not a serious Lions Capt or no.6

I said all last week Itoje should've started at 6. I still think so.

What the fudge is wrong with you? Aside from the result going against you that was a cracking match. Lots of too-and-fro and the Lions were in it a long time.

The Lions fans in this thread turn rabid against their team quicker than we ever do.

I think Farrell over Sexton was a mistake. Hindsight though and all that.
There is a reason why Eddie selects Ford. Farrell has got better at attacking but struggles as sole playmaker (has Goode at Sarries and Ford with England).

Stupid decision to play so many games prior to the test with already knackered players.

Disagree with those who think Lions were decent. They were owned upfront and their back row were completely outplayed by their opposite numbers, and were unable to slow AB ball down at any point.

ABs got on top early, built pressure and Lions were probably flattered by 1/2T scoreline. Not sure I'd take a single Lions player other than Davis over their AB opposite number.

Retallick is some player.

(The whining about the ref is ridiculous. Point your fingers elsewhere)

Weren't you happy with the Lions standing in the AB's backline? Or the gift penalty with an unstraight throw then a dubious ruck penalty not long after?

The lions were rubbish. A single moment of brilliance from Liam Williams papering over a very bland performance.

Agree. Farrell was shit but the other backs looked good enough. But Lions need to find two good locks otherwise they will lose all three test easily. And work on their defense.

This starting Lions team would struggle to beat NZ B
