Budget??

Have had an integratedNeff dishwasher for 15 years and can highly recommend the brand. Have a Neff integrated fridge for the same time without any issues.

they are pretty cheap and tend to be pretty reliable and cheap to fix.

as its built in no point buying an expensive brand.

I don't know what the options are (ours is Neff) for it but I'd highly recommend an extra height dishwasher. So much more flexibility and you get wine glasses in above with very large plates below. Had a normal dishwasher on a self catering holiday recently and it wrecked my head trying to load it!

Just the weekday ones. Not the good weekend ones.

Seriously though, I have enough to do in my life without having to wash wine glasses and the ones we use look decent (because we've the height) and don't get damaged in the dishwasher. But it's not just glasses anyway that it's useful for, that was just giving an example.

They're all built to fit either a 400mm (slimline) or more normal 600mm unit. If you're comfortable with basic diy, it's very simple to fit yourself. Some places try and charge a fair chunk of change for about 15mins work.

Zanussi/Electrolux are good.

Just be careful of the performance of it. Loads of manufacturers trying to get A+ efficiency ratings are "depowering" their dishwashers so much it can take 4 hours to do a wash. The Eco setting certainly, usually more than 3 hrs.

If I have to wait more than 90-100 mins for the cycle to finish, I'm not buying it. Something to check.

Recently bought a new kitchen and it the deal included a Neff built in.

I was fine with that because the old kitchen that the previous owners put in had a Neff, and that was still working fine 10 years after we moved in.

This new Neff is almost exactly the same in design as the old Neff, so i'm expecting good things and happy to recommend Neff.

In a word,

Neff.

Neff and Bosch are the same company. Me, my two sisters and Mum all have Neff dishwashers. No problems at all (mine is now 7 years old).

My Aunt swears by her Miele - 12 years and counting

Have never had a problem with any German brand appliances bought for my Kitchen. Have had a problem with virtually any other brand

Dishwashers are prob the most reliable large white goods. Depends on your budget but as I had everything to buy so biggest went on most important/vulnerable, Fridge/freezer AEG £650 and cooker SMEG £900, hobb - AEG £300, Washing M I screwed up on, went for Whirlpool won't again, built in microwave got for £50 on Amazon Warehouse and dishwasher £300 currys are both Hotpoint, top end HP but still hotpoint because they're both the most reliable devices in the kitchen and not prone to catching fire. When I replace the dryer (still got a made in England dryer working perfectly) that will be top brand.

Don't buy beko, I don't understand how that company is still in business here. Also indeshit I know its same company as Hotpoint but it still manages to be shittier.

The one thing I'd avoid like the plague are self cleaning ovens. We bought a top of the range De Deitrich pyroclean oven 15 years ago, replaced it 8 years ago with a new one, and finally gave up the ghost last year and bought a Neff for half the price. We put the first one down to bad luck, but when the second one packed up last year I googled it and discovered that the way they self cleaned by going up to incredibly high (for a domestic oven anyway) for hours at a time burned out the circuit board for which you couldn't get a replacement. I worked out that the fcuking thing was costing me almost €300 a year given its 7 year lifespan.

Something German sub- £500 will do the job well.

For built in, check out CDA - British make I think, only do built ins, ours has lasted
5 years of daily use for a family of 6. Cheap, quiet, cleans, has not broken - kind of all I want from a dishwasher to be honest . Howdens use them.

Oh, and had a bosche or Aeg or neff or something like that beforehand - broke about two months after the 3 year warranty ended . Das fuuckers !

Miele... quieter than a whisper.

Doesn't matter as much as making sure your wife doesn't load it.

It's usually only a thermostat that burns out, you are unlucky.
Also I have a Miele built oven that no longer self cleans, we just clean it ourselves.

Not putting same shape bowls together so that the thing is filled after two mins and not two meals - why ?

We bought a miele basically because it had this cutlery tray thing in the top of the machine instead of a basket below, works well
