All Whites v Peru - soccer world cup qualifier

Post by Auckman »

They might not even get the high honour and privilege of rolling over the All Whites.

They are currently in 6th spot. They need to get to 5th spot to laugh at the AWs.

Will be a nervous wait for the NZ player or players who were due to swap shirts with Lionel Messi over the 2 legs.

The first leg is in NZ so we'd expect to face the top side before the Mendoza Girls Under 8s were rolled out to finish us off at home.

That towelling up the All Whites got from Mexico in the 2014 WC qualifiers was worth watching just for the incredible atmosphere at the Azteca Stadium.

Chris Wood is talking a good game. Fair enough too, they have to go into it looking for a result however unlikely.

Be awesome for the sport over here whatever the result if Argentina did have to come over, doesn't matter how god they are it would be Argentina ... be the equivalent of the AB's having to go to Wales to qualify I guess.

Soccer NZ or whatever they call themselves will be praying for Argentina i suspect. Would potentially sell out and that would be a first for NZ.

A repeat of 2010 would be even better than playing the Argies in NZ.

hehe this is why you needed and definitly need argentina in the RC.

only latins or anglos is a mess, a mix of both is raindow fireworks in the opposition of things.... even if full latins is still less a mess than full anglos. :D

as incredible as it seems, mexico never made it to the semis of a soccer WC

but they are an incredible team to watch in WC !
a mexican friend told me they say something about it : "Jugamos como nunca, perdimos como siempre" ...

still, they're great to watch.

PS : what's the story behind this, did mexico had to score N goals or something ? or did they just have to win and the commentators simply had a good lunch with tequila before ?

I think the entire country was just pissed off at the disgrace of having to play lowly NZ in the 5th place play-off and they wanted a reaming to assuage their national pride. They got it that day.

ah, really ? ... bah, from the comments i thought it was more a story of having had an horrible soccer "year", and being finally out of that mess... more than playing "lowly" NZ or battering you... kinda of releasing pressure in a nervous commentary meltdown ... "........phewwwwwwwwww...... we're in brasil".

The weird thing about the NZ soccer team is they could lose 10-0 or win 10-0 and I would be equally happy and amused.

I read on newshub just now that it ended up Argies 3-1 or something. They go straight through in 3rd place and Colombia (who was 10mins away from qualifying for Russia directly the other day) now travels to NZ.

http://www.newshub.co.nz/home/sport/201 ... ayoff.html

Edit: wrong. The game is still on. It is 2-1 Argies.

Assuming it's played in Wellington (which seems to be the HQ for soccer in NZ), I hope it's a freezing cold windy day. The type of day where your manhood turns up and retreats into your ballsack and your ballsack shrinks into a prune. The type of weather where your anus puckers up like a newborn babies face after being fed lemon juice. I hope the South Americans come off the plane and weep because a -5C 100km/hr wind rips through them. And that when they take the field, they are a shadow of their former selves. If all that happens then I believe the All White may have a chance and only lose by 4 goals.
