Oz must be huge favourites now. Root will be too scared to attack the ball so 50 more runs will see it out.

Bit of an anti-climax - but no great surprise.

Ah well - at least we won't have to spend all night on tenterhooks.

A bit of a limp finish on the cards after a potential great last day. Congrats to Australia for striking hard early.

About time Rort got out. He got away with a lot on day 4.

It's not game over yet England have the right batsmen at the crease to counter punch with a lengthy partnership.

This could flip very quickly. If either of these two get themselves in that total could start getting reeled in sharpish.

I certainly think so.

I don't think the English top order would have been able to play against the Aussie bowlers with the ball moving around like it did the other night.

I think Smith was also culpable in terms of his batsmen getting out looking for quick runs.

However, the loss of Root has certainly put the Aussies back on top, not least because the ball that got him never got up.

 Well we won that one at least.

Beautiful from Lyon. In the form of his life. He’s lethal against left handlers.

Following on would have been the arrogant call. There was a good chance that England would have had Australia out batting again today or last night had that been enforced.

Australia threw away their wickets stupidly in the first session trying hit the ball out of the ground and created enough chances yesterday. Got the players out eventually after more runs were added to the total. Particularly Stoneman (dropped by Hazlewood), Malan (dropped by Smith) and Cook (played his part in a 50 run opening partnership after refusing to refer the LBW shout when he was on one).

The umpiring hasn't helped in this match but the calls are balancing themselves out in the end.

Moeen bogged down plays unnecessary sweep. Quicks contributed to that wicket. No need to worry about the new ball now. Well done Aussies

Ali desperately unlucky there. Umpire should have given him the benefit of the doubt. Which is another problem with the review on LBWs - the umpires shouldn't be giving "probably outs" and leaving it to a review.

Got to stop dragging them short or bowling rubbish on the pads. England are getting their cheap runs off that.

This.
There was no way that should have been given out by the umpire. He was so far down the wicket that it should have been a 'not out' from the ump and if it Australia were to review, then the only way it could be overturned was if on review it was clearly landing in line and then going on to smash middle stump half way up.

Yep, bit sloppy from both Cummins and Lyon after I said that. 160 runs is nothing with two guys who can hang around. Have to seriously dig in now.

Would like to see the wagon wheel as the bulk of the England runs would have been scored from shíte pitched on or outside leg stump. Particularly those two Starc and Hazlewood overs which conceded 30 runs.

Overton finally runs out of lives first ball with the new ball. Time for Broad to cop some chin music after his behaviour the other day.

The ball tracking is not accurate anyway. The LBW review should be limited to what happens up to the point it hits the pad, So, did it pitch outside leg, hit in line, was there an edge.

Overton gone. That was absolutely plumb.
