Things like this are what is going to create a Boerstaat, not through the Boer's own wanting.
Always were "things like this". Black consciousness was hijacked by communism ages ago. And communism always enrich only a very very small elect group - and their honchos and business partners outside the country.

A clever capitalist could do well in such a climate. If he has no scruples.

"There is no motion there saying expropriation of rural land. We're saying expropriation of land
without compensation. So the question of urban or rural doesn't arise," said Malema.
"Every land in South Africa should be expropriated without compensation and it will be under the
state. The state should be the custodian of the land," he explained.
"No one is going to lose his or her house, no one is going to lose his or her flat, no one is going to
lose his or her factory or industry. All [that] we are saying is they will not have the ownership of
the land," he said.
"They will have a lease, depending on what the arrangement is, particularly as it relates to the
outcome of the Constitutional review process.
"You'll see, once we find land is owned by the state, we're going to find a lot of idle land which is
not being used for any purpose. And that land should then immediately be made available to be
used, particularly by the previously disadvantaged people."

Tja. What will we say. Except that the revolution continues, and that the frogs are sweating profusely....
Ah ha. I thought so.

99 year leases is as good as ownership really [Fijian coup leaders certainly thought so :D ]. The farmers stay on their farms; the land remains productive; the banks don't flee; but "a historical wrong" is "corrected". However, in this case Malema wants the state, instead of indigenous tribes, being the lessors.

I agree. It strikes me as being a sop to the EFF. I will be surprised if this ever actually happens, or if it does it will be weakened and limited to the point that there's no real point.

Zuma charged (again) and to face trial on corruption charges arising from an arms deal in the 1990s. Reading a bit of the commentary, people seem to think it will take years for this case to come to court given that Zuma will try every legal trick in the book to avoid trial. What are the prospects of the trial going ahead this time? Does CR being president have anything to do with this?
