^^^Forwards living up to their stereotype.

Good to see the Canes have Plumtree locked down.

I reckon the Mo'unga injury is probably a big part of those odds.

No Fidow, injured. He's got plenty of time on his side, but I thought he did well when he came on last week.

The Saders will have a go at getting under Ben May's skin, in particular, and probably succeed.

No Mo'unga will be a huge loss. I'm hoping that catching the Canes on the way back from Argentina will give us an edge, but I'm not super confident. We haven't won in Wellington since 2012.

Crusaders named:

David Havili, Seta Tamanivalu, Jack Goodhue, Ryan Crotty, George Bridge, Mitchell Hunt, Bryn Hall, Jordan Taufua, Matt Todd, Heiden Bedwell-Curtis, Sam Whitelock (captain), Scott Barrett, Michael Alaalatoa, Codie Taylor, Wyatt Crockett.

Reserves: Ben Funnell, Chris King, Oliver Jager, Luke Romano, Billy Harmon, Mitchell Drummond, Mike Delany, Manasa Mataele.

Hunt starts as expected, and Bedwell-Curtis starts in place of Samu, who injured his shoulder. Todd is back too, which is a major boost.

Is Ethan Blackadder injured? Seems weird that Bedwell-Curtis would start ahead of him, considering he wasn't even in the original squad. Maybe Robertson thinks Blackadder's just too raw at this point.

From what has been said in the news, Todd has been rushed back before his thumb has fully healed. It's a long season and the AB's beckon. Seems an odd decision.

With the Crusaders injuries the Canes won't get a better chance of beating them this year.

Massive choke if they don't.

Mahoosive.
You Crusaders fans are comic gold, running out you 12 ABs and still trying to claim underdog status. ;)

Don't underestimate the impact of the loss of Mo'unga.

Matt Todd must ignore the pain of a cracked thumb so he can duel against Ardie Savea at the Cake Tin on Saturday night.

Openside flanker Todd was a shock inclusion in the Crusaders side to play the Hurricanes in their Super Rugby match in Wellington, and will wear a protective guard over the damaged thumb to protect it during an encounter that's expected be of white-hot intensity at the Cake Tin.

He'll be wearing a thumb guard apparently. Definitely seems risky.

Pffft, it can't be that big a deal, you even left your star AB 10 on the bench.

Especially in Beauden's 100th. Cane's to lose. Just hope we can keep it close :((

If we get a bp loss, that would be a genuine moral victory. ;) ;)

Lot's of chippy confident Saders fans, heehawing with the mockers. Unfortunately, I think they could be right.

Didn't see this thread when I started my thread tonight. Will be a really tough game for the Crusaders given they are missing so many All Blacks.

Evans starting again with Blade on the bench. I thought Evans was a bit of a mixed bag last run out. Some good some bad. A work in progress. Seems strong over the ball at ruck time. This will be a good test for him.

Crusaders will miss Mo'unga and with the Canes enjoying their first home game, I think they'll sneak it.

Interesting fact I just just found out; TJ Perenara is a vegetarian.

The usual cocky and over-confident Crusaders fans are stinking up the match thread already. I just hope the quiet and unassuming Hurricanes side can overcome insurmountable odds and make a game of it.

Wiorked today so am on the 83 Bus from the Hutt back to town. Preloading with some beers, change of clothes, bus to railway station grab my mate, meet another mate (a boardie) inside and should be a good game. Good weather and hopefully a good acid test game. Early season so not critical for either team but am looking forward to a decent game tonight. Hurricanes dominate backline as usual, am wary of Matt todd but be interesting to see if that a wise risk/decision for the sadists...

Enjoy the game, should be a good one despite the result I think. Was contemplating going in but just ran out of time.

We're here, the Caketin. Looks a bit sparse for a Saders game, but then it usually fills Kate.

Todd has a mini Victor Mayfield armguard with an added claw. Jeez, they look forking humungeous.
