Att holiday buffs

as ever, I come to the forum for some sage advice, that is truthful, factual, relevant, and affordable.

I've been given a wee task of planning an extended family holiday that is as mutually convenient to get to for all as possible - I need a website that will show direct flight options ideally, to show the spokes.

the cities in question where the family members will be travelling from are as follows:
London
Toronto / Buffalo
Durban
Cape Town
Bucharest
Phoenix
Brisbane
Sydney

no doubt not everyone will make it, but I just want to find which places can be flown to the most direct of all, London seems the obvious one but then it won't really be a holiday away for my family plus everyone has been there already. the ultimate aim will be to come up with a couple of suggestions so I can go back to all and say "Hey lets rent a villa in Crete, it will cost X and its a max of 2 flights for you all, here are approximate flight durations & routes"

(Crete is just a random example)

Go to Ireland. Short flight, lovely country. And you'll get tons of advice on where to go on here!

It might rain a bit.

If you paid my flights I'd take you all sailing in the BVI. How many are there going on holiday?

It will be easier to disown the shaggin lot of 'em than to take this thankless task on.

The clue is in the phrase ' thankless'.

When you suss that, line someone else up and thank them profusely in advance, to lull them.

....and serve you all Blue Nun from an out of sight box in the galley while he quaffs Chateau Margaux Balthazar and tells you how he invented the question mark.

Not had a glass of that (Blue Nun) in a very, very long time. I could also get them to make a lamp from a bottle of Mateus Rose.

Red wine does not really work well when you sail. The customers like a nice chilled white.

You want to go to Sopers Hole, to the upstairs in a mini supermarket. It had the biggest selection of fizzy shampoo in the world I've ever seen.

I know a lot of the locals. Black George can prop up a bar for a day. He has only one tooth left. He owns an island out there.

I know the diving instructors. You can go and visit the "Wreck of the Rhone" which sank off Salt Island.

Watch the sharks swimming under a restaurant. And you might get to meet a certain Mr Branson.

Here I am. Trying to be helpful and offering opportunity to you. And you have a go at me.

I know the BVI very well. That's where I took and met a lot of people, who stay in touch.

One of the reasons they do so is that they had a good time and they want to let their children have the same chance.

The Management can cook as the yacht hits over 45 degrees. I'm not a fan of cats but they do offer plenty of accommodation.

I wish you guys would not keep quoting Yeeb. It's a thankless task.

The best site for travel planning imo is Rome2rio. You can input the start and end location and it shows you all the flights, trains etc

Dubai or Orlando. Have a big or small budget?

I'm taking into account direct flights only. If multiple flights are not a problem, go to Dubrovnik

Based on those locations, the most obvious centre point would be central America or somewhere like Cabo San Lucas. Cheap, nice beaches, and some really nice areas provided you plan well.

yeah this site seems to be pretty much what I was after, just to get ideas of where you can get from from A - for example, didn't realise you can get to Cancun direct from Toronto

Ben Gurion in Tel Aviv is well connected and you get to combine a modern European style city with a gorgeous beach front and trip to Jerusalem to see the old city, maybe hit the dead see, Mesada, Haifa, Hula Valley nature reserve and the Golan Heights (you can get beautiful light shows there if there is trouble, missiles flying overhead at night are very impressive). The hotels are bloody expensive though and it would be bloody hot.

That would have been my suggestion also.

Alternatives Rome or Barca/Madrid and suss villas.

Ankara then to the coast and villa the shit out of it also...

Grandparents and little ones may mean you need to rule out scorchio from your deliberations...

We do a similar thing every couple of years (of a similar size). We tend to rent a large villa with a pool for the children

Last few have been;
Dordogne: great food, sightseeing and wine but not a beach holiday if that's what you want

Minorca: again a bit remote, but it's a small island, one of the festivals was magnificent. Close to the beach and a sailing/canoeing club nearby

Crete: in a small village with only one cafe/bar, but again some sights, some fantastic walking and not far from the beach.

I can dig out some details if you wish.

Can you imagine?

You're reclining by the pool, slowly beginning to loosen up a bit as you ease into your long planned holiday ... and then suddenly backrow and his extended tribe of Romanians, Saffers and Yanks start trampling through the hotel lobby.

It makes me shiver just to think about it.

yip I may just tap you for some info, lemme do a bit of digging on approx. times and get back to you.

I've been to crete about 4 times in early 90's and in fact popped my Cherry there to a French Greek chick with lovely face & legs & woeful choice in boys (her folks owned the bar in Aghios Nickolaos called Lipstick and was in a flat above it, to the tune of Salt & Peppa Push it / Rick Astley Never gonna give you up, iirc. no recollection of what was drunk or any inventions though sadly.) Came back from those hols walking like a Pimp, showing off to my mates at school, convinced I'd be a Shagmeister and have the girls dripping off me now I'd popped my cherry - didn't get anything else for about 3 more years !!!!!)

Dubai is too hot in July.

Rome has direct flights from most/all those places and is fantastic interesting for those travelling a long way.

1 stop each via Dubai for both on Emirates.
