Okay, I'm getting quite excited about this.

As usual Bafana not good enough to qualify, so I have adopted Senegal. :smug:

Brazil's form has been amazing for the past 3 years. I think they may go all the way.

Hmm - usually I cheer for the Dutch... so I'm gonna need a new team.

Senegal are on my shortlist - along with Egypt, and South Korea.

My knowledge of soccer is based on playing FIFA on the PS3/PS4.

As such, I will go for either Belgium, Argentina or Spain.

for some reason I can't get too excited for this, maybe because it's in fascist russia x(

brazil is the obvious candidate, with germany, spain, france and argentina in the mix as always

england to provide the schadenfreude, italy and netherlands will be missed

egypt, croatia, switzerland possible bolters

I don't expect either to progress that far, but I'm backing Nigeria and Denmark. I'll need to dig out my Nigeria top from the 98 WC.

It stings when other countries are announcing their squads and your team hasn't qualified.

I will be throwing my half-hearted support behind the Polish and German lads in that order.

We would have been an embarrassment. I'm almost happy we're not there tbh.

Far too many shitty middle eastern oil bribed teams there, at the expense of decent euro and South American teams. Am sad there is no Scotland or ireland
Am really not that confident in England’s chances post 2nd round

I have also always loved teams with three different colours on their kit - 1 shirt, 2 shorts, 3 socks. So if not Peru then fingers crossed for one of those countries instead.

I like teams that are exciting to watch but each to their own.

Agree to disagree.

I have always enjoyed the German away kit when coupled with the captain's armband. I prefer the long sleeve combination but couldn't find an image.

There are some tough groups to call.

Which two teams come out of Group H?

Who gets the 2nd spot in Groups A, C, D, E?

I was talking to an Icelandic guy recently and it seemed like nearly every adult male in the country is a qualified coach.

It's always a shame the Irish never get behind England, because in the reverse most English and English media will support Ireland.

That's true but many countries don't cheer on their neighbours. It is easier to support those teams who you won't have to witness celebrating up close (looking over the fence) should they win a tournament. I appreciate the English support for Ireland but we have also never threatened to win a tournament.

One time I can remember supporting England to win the tournament was during Euro 96.

That's only because we're supporting the England 'B' team.
