Tom Curry Gooone (4 year doping ban)

In all seriousness 4 years is incredibly harsh for coke, even in competition. Can't see people seriously using it for performance enhancement on the rugby pitch.

I don't care. People get less for performance enhancing drugs

Two Premiership players tested positive for cocaine last season, the Rugby Football Union has confirmed.

The unnamed pair returned samples showing out-of-competition use of the recreational drug, according to the latest RFU annual anti-doping report.

The players were fined £5,000, ordered to undergo a rehabilitation course and warned they faced the same fate as former England prop Matt Stevens – who was banned for two years in 2009 for taking cocaine – if they transgressed again.

Didn’t the Scottish flanker recently get pulled for it?

Judgement is linked on this page

https://ukad.org.uk/anti-doping-rule-vi ... iolations/

Skimmed it. He said he did several lines on a night out a few days before the game, they (UKAD) got a scientist to suggest that it was taken much closer to the game and thus considered in competition rather than out of competition, which makes a big difference to the sanction. Still nuts though.

Zak Hardaker should be counting his lucky stars he plays rugby league. He missed a grand final got sack and banned for about 13 months but he has just signed for Wigan and will probably still be the best fullback in super league when he returns. As a Wigan fan I wish they hadn't gone near him though. He is a dick.

That’s really unfair. Poor guy, semipro or whatever and has a few lines on a night out.

Same!

That's so fúcking harsh though. I don't even really understand why they hand out bans for recreationals anyway.

Is being considered performance enhancing here (that's an argument in itself), but even so a top end ban like this is an eye opener. On the UKAD site some other athletes get less for steroids.

Mindboggling ban.

I think Steroids I've seen get a year or 2. Coke isn't and can't be performance enhancing can it?

The NFL gives 4 game bans for f**king PEDS! But then they are way too lax on that shit.

The worst thing is the inconsistency of the whole thing, 2 years for a drug obviously taken for fun vs a 2 year ban for a drug that can only be explained with cheating purposes. Even taking coke as a PED it should have a smaller ban than any use of steroids.

They barely even test them as well.
