From his Facebook

I received a call to say that I haven’t made it through to the final 2 candidates for the Waratahs Head Coach Role. Their reason “I don’t have enough experience as a head coach”. It seems my experience as an international player and coach at all levels of rugby from International Level, Super 15 level and right down to grass roots level over the past 40 years, wasn’t enough.

They've probably got Knuckles lined up

Airing it publicly via social media is pretty classless and vindicates the decision I'd say.

I'm not overly familiar with his coaching CV, but I don't see anything indicating he's coached at a professional rugby level before, let alone been a senior coach or head elsewhere. An established Super Rugby team like the Tahs are presumably looking for someone with more of a track record than amateur rugby provides?

Don't know why he feels the need to bring up his now ancient playing career, we see time and time again that being a good player doesn't equate to being a suitable coach.

Scott Johnson himself would be my best choice coach... for any team I really truly hate.

He coached them actually.
But I agree, be a coach but not the head coach.......it's a poisoned chalice role now anyway

1998 he coached us apparently. But I don’t remember it at all.
We’re still fully amateur now and would have been really, really, really amateur then.

He helped out with my club side in Durban over a decade ago. I remember after one session he set up some presentation in the change room and pitched to us, trying to sell us paint
