An evil film. The ultimate in boomer sedition. He never repented either.

Here is a famous loaded clip from his earlier film 'Wild Angels ' sampled by primal scream:https://youtu.be/xsHly9UuQ-A

It is a paeon to unadulterated libertinism, and it's staggering to think how many lives have been wasted and lost to this philosophy since. Untold millions.

Sedition of boomers, maybe. None of the principals were boomers themselves. Fonda was the youngest and he was a war baby (b.1940) whereas Hopper and Southern were well older.

Do not for god's sake sink into the postmodern mire of conflating emotionally true and actually true. You would hate yourself in the morning.

That's a curious point, and worthy of a wider discussion. Many of the really influential people of the 60s counter culture weren't boomers of course. The boomers didn't cook up the scene out of a vacuum. One thinks of ginsburg, leary, Burroughs, Kesey, etc. All a half or full generation ahead. Nonetheless, easy rider is peak boomer, and if fonda was a 29 year old corrupting 21 year olds, the difference is meh.

Throw in Kerouac, Corso et al and there's the kernel of the white US pre-counterculture (with the emphasis on culture, not politics) right there.
