Sam Gyimah tells Sky’s @skynewsniall he is standing in Tory leadership contest
He is standing on a second referendum platform.
“I will be the only candidate in this race supporting this option.”
He's hardly mr charisma, and I'm bewildered by his toryism, but to his credit he's shown big balls on brexit.
Labour and the conservatives are placing huge faith in the idea that delivering any Brexit will bring back the status quo.openclashXX wrote:latest YouGov poll has BREX in the lead now... and this is what the GE would look like:

It does seem a little skewed. People do treat General Elections differently and we haven't seen a manifesto from the Brexit party yet.backrow wrote:If those results occurred would it be a brexit - conservative coalition ?
I’m surprised libs would gain so few seats as I’d have thought most Tory remainers would have voted for them. I also doubt in a GE if brexit party would come anywhere near that figure , probably just get Thurrock , Sunderland and Penzance .
I probably agree but the situation the country finds itself in is unprecedented in that there’s a gigantic single issue that affects everything, brexit party pick up 30% of people who care about that single issue and though many people disagree with them, the opposing vote is split amongst 5 or so other parties. UKIP and Change seem dead.happyhooker wrote:It does seem a little skewed. Immigration isn't his issue. Europeans deciding immigration policy is his single and only issue.SamShark wrote:Terrible people those Europeans.Sandstorm wrote:Peterborough has large European population. It’s probably not a happy town.SamShark wrote:The Peterborough by election may well show this

If immigration was a key issue they would have been well served supporting the PM as her deal was fully anti immigrant.
Farage only offers them commentary on how betrayed they are. Does he have an immigration policy?

My plan will be a new referendum with a new set of questions - to bring us together and solve the impasse. Step 1. Leave vs Remain. Step 2. Deal vs No Deal. Parliament will debate the approach in detail. This is a credible way to resolve the stark choice we face. #backsamsplan
Well, I kind of think they are all self promoting with the aim of getting a job, so it hardly provides any moral high ground.Rugby2023 wrote:Gyimah knows well he has no chance of winning, just as Rory Stewart does. All they're doing is self-promoting, hoping to be bought off with a ministerial job.
