Brumbies team is named.

McCaffrey starts ahead of Samu but probably deservedly. I think Samu is over rated. A solid Super Rugby player, fine of the bench and McCaffrey was excellent last year.

Slipper ahead of Sio - I wonder if this counts as a rest for Sio? Brumbies may as well do it now against one of the weakest scrums in the comp.

Not overly impressed by the 10/12 combo. I bet pounds to a penny that its not the combination by the end of the year.

IMO, Samu is a master of none and will best serve the Brumbies as a super sub...

The only times I would start him is when Pocock is rested, and in that situation I would consider bringing Cusack into the starting team and drop McCaffrey back to the bench.

Cusack unlucky to miss out this week but it came down to him and Samu for the bench spot, and he's no no 8.

Taliauli also unlucky but I wonder if he's still sore from last week?

Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with that team... but it's going to need Lilo to step up.

Thats a strong side, well balanced with a quality bench. I'm getting a bit turgid.

For a team that supposedly went on a big spending spree I don't reckon the Rebels look that good. the bench in particular looks average, which is always an indicator of depth.

TBF the Rebels have had a worse pre season injury toll. Missing Ulese, Coleman, Hodge and Toomua is a ways away. Brumbies are close to full strength.

Not to mention Timani, Mafi, Naivalu and Parling all left at the end of last year.
Thats a fair bit of depth to replace and is partly responsible for their spending spree (which wasnt really)

Why is Magnay not getting a run, at least off the bench? Or RHP?

I think Magnay is recovering from injury. Not sure about rhp. That Rebels bench looks average.

Great maul. As much as I do love a bit of flair, fudge I love seeing an aussie side put an unstoppable maul together. How the fudge can we do them so well yet the Wallabies are as bad at it as we were in 2005?

Does anyone know of a link to the game for a friend? My friend normally watches cricfree but said it is only listing one game for all sports for today, and that game isn’t rugby.

That would have been hilarious if it was yellowed for a tip tackle that actually assisted the try!

Good start from the Brumbies, but a good fight back from the Rebels in the last 5misn or so. Bounced back from conceding a try really well to score a good one of their own.

McCaffrey as been a beast so far.

It's the new Foxtel sports streaming platform. It's costs about $25/month and is actually pretty good.

Rebels owned the 10-20min period, then f**ked the kick off and handed momentum to the Brumbies, who have't done much other than apply pressure so far.

Brumbies punch up through the forwards then punch over on the 8th phase, no real initiative creativity. Haven't found their groove yet but are at least trying to chuck it wide when they're not under pressure. Reverting to white-orc rugby when they are, so far. Decent-ish match though, has the feelign that it might spark up into a good-un.

Pocock off after 4mins, Pulu seems to have had his face caved in after 10, neither back on tonight.

15-12 to Brumbies.

5 tries so far in the first half. Only 7 in the first game earlier.

Edit: make that 6 tries.

Rebels hit back - penalty on half way, kick into the 22, long lineout and a few phases up the middle then pick and drive over the line.

Brumbies immediately hit back in similar fashion - win the kick off then just punch through the middle then pick and drive over.

I'd actually suggest the contact and hits are more intense in this game than that of the Chiefs and Highlanders game earlier.
