It's a crap movie tbh.Jay Cee Gee wrote:I'll confess, I don't remember any of that.Lacrobat wrote:Er, he led the resistance into battle and they got slaughtered. It was Eywa, the life force of the planet, that stirred up the wildlife and took out the human gunships and ground forces. Jake Sully couldn't even defeat the big bad at the end, he had to be saved by his Navi girlfriend twice - once when she shot Quarritch, then when when she fitted his oxygen mask. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in Avatar and The Last Samurai the "white savior" leads people of color into a massacre. Hawkeye in Last of the Mohicans barely escaped with his life and couldn't save Uncas or anyone other than Cora.Looking back on blockbusters like The Last of the Mohicans, Avatar, and The Last Samurai, the list piles up for movies in which a white person can alleviate the suffering of people of color
That's among many reasons why I have the utmost respect for that movie; it sets up the white savior trope, then completely subverts it.
I didn't even read the article, they're inevitable with a popular movie coming up.
Just as tedious as the incel weirdos who get worked into a froth over Captain Marvel etc.
