If Wales hadn't won the grand slam it's likely that we would still be waiting for a gay player to lift that trophy.
Gay Gar drew on the strength given to him by Arwel Thomas all those years earlier in the caravan.bessantj wrote:And there is Gareth Thomas lifting the trophy and to think he's doing that while gay, amazing achievement.
Obviously wouldn't be the last thing he lifts but is the most impressive.Derwyn wrote:Gay Gar drew on the strength given to him by Arwel Thomas all those years earlier in the caravan.bessantj wrote:And there is Gareth Thomas lifting the trophy and to think he's doing that while gay, amazing achievement.
I heard it was Derek the weatherman.Derwyn wrote:Gay Gar drew on the strength given to him by Arwel Thomas all those years earlier in the caravan.bessantj wrote:And there is Gareth Thomas lifting the trophy and to think he's doing that while gay, amazing achievement.
Slightly related. We shan't see the like of Derek Bevan again, really understood the game.Jeff the Bear wrote:I heard it was Derek the weatherman.Derwyn wrote:Gay Gar drew on the strength given to him by Arwel Thomas all those years earlier in the caravan.bessantj wrote:And there is Gareth Thomas lifting the trophy and to think he's doing that while gay, amazing achievement.
I felt as if I had restrained myself, I feel as if I could have posted more.Frodder wrote:bessantj in a single handed attempt to get us to the 600. 2 more games should do it
I've had a go, and bessan has had a go. I think if everyone watched and "live blogs" the 2005 Grandslam match, not only will we make it to 600 pages, but we'll no doubt capture the true essence of the game.bessantj wrote:I felt as if I had restrained myself, I feel as if I could have posted more.Frodder wrote:bessantj in a single handed attempt to get us to the 600. 2 more games should do it
Against England in August 2007 would be the killer.Frodder wrote:We should try reverse psychology and stream some of shiter games. Nominations would be against SA for RWC 95 and against the Saes RWC warm up 2003.

How about away to Australia in 2007 (the one we were winning until Cooper kicked the ball away) or away to South Africa when Sanjay smashed that saffa in the corner and gave away a PT.bessantj wrote:Against England in August 2007 would be the killerFrodder wrote:We should try reverse psychology and stream some of shiter games. Iirc the Cuthbert was excellent against SANew guy wrote:How about away to Australia in 2007 (the one we were winning until Cooper kicked the ball away) or away to South Africa when Sanjay smashed that saffa in the corner and gave away a PT.bessantj wrote:Against England in August 2007 would be the killerFrodder wrote:We should try reverse psychology and stream some of shiter games. We were miles ahead in both of those matches.
The kicker for me was when Beale glided through in the 80th minute to beat us.New guy wrote:How about away to Australia in 2007 (the one we were winning until Cooper kicked the ball away) or away to South Africa when Sanjay smashed that saffa in the corner and gave away a PT.bessantj wrote:Against England in August 2007 would be the killerFrodder wrote:We should try reverse psychology and stream some of shiter games. I would not wish to put one of the good Welsh posters through such misery. Maybe Wyndham could step up.LandOTurk wrote:Too busy. Working like a banshee.Derwyn wrote:Do we have a volunteer for the 2011 semi final?
Yeah I think you're right. Look at him on the first 3 tries in this video, like a man possessed.Frodder wrote:Iirc the Cuthbert was excellent against SANew guy wrote:How about away to Australia in 2007 (the one we were winning until Cooper kicked the ball away) or away to South Africa when Sanjay smashed that saffa in the corner and gave away a PT.bessantj wrote:Against England in August 2007 would be the killerFrodder wrote:We should try reverse psychology and stream some of shiter games. Never knew Turnbull ever played 7 for us. I guess we just went big against SA.New guy wrote:Yeah I think you're right. Anyone know who's playing number 7 for us? I don't think I've ever seen that bloke before in my life.
Yeah apparently I'd erased that from my memory too.LandOTurk wrote:Never knew Turnbull ever played 7 for us. I guess we just went big against SA.
A good, solid regional player is our JoshNew guy wrote:Yeah apparently I'd erased that from my memory too.LandOTurk wrote:Never knew Turnbull ever played 7 for us. I guess we just went big against SA.
Anonymous Thomas was excellent in 2008 tbfP in VG wrote:Following on from the Stealing a Paycheck thread - who are the biggest shysters to have played in Wales (club or international) other than Derwyn Jones?
From recent memory - I'll start us off with:
-Zane Kirchner at the Dragons
-Rory Thornton at Os/Blues
-Lloyd Peers/Ashley
-Jonathon Thomas for Wales (apart from vs NZ in 2003)
-Sam Norton-Knight at the Blues
We lost Nicky and replaced him with SKK - amazing.P in VG wrote:Following on from the Stealing a Paycheck thread - who are the biggest shysters to have played in Wales (club or international) other than Derwyn Jones?

I remember when we went through the phase of thinking any League shister was the second coming. Anyhoo - Iestyn Harris, never really did much for me after his switch from league
I was at the Millenium watching Wales play in the 6N/AIs when Iestyn was FH (so 2001/2 before he went to IC for the next 2 years). He had this 4 steps bollocks before kicking. I said to my Dad, if he does 4 steps here off a scrum deep in his own 22, it will be charged down. Sure as f'ing eggs, I counted his 4 steps, charged down and a try. Does anyone have footage of that?Ceejay wrote:We lost Nicky and replaced him with SKK - amazing.P in VG wrote:Following on from the Stealing a Paycheck thread - who are the biggest shysters to have played in Wales (club or international) other than Derwyn Jones?

Clayton Blommetjies - plenty of injuries during his time there, so some sympathy...but yeah, not a success story.Frodder wrote:What about that Saffa full back the Scarlets signed. He was utterly crap
We did our usual thing with him, build him up straight away, throw him in at the deep end at 10...and then declare him a disaster when he unsurprisingly failed. Better management and more time and he could have been an asset. We were still in the era of being pretty f*cking awful, so the idea he was going to be the saviour of a side when the pack spent more time in the bar than the gym was always ridiculous.Frodder wrote:Iestyn poor Iestyn. Brought in to be the next great 10 to be an ordinary 12 and then quietly cast back to League. He tried his best
What? Harris wasn't immediately able to play 10 behind a sh*t pack...useless prick.Harris made his début for the Welsh side...Having played only 200 minutes of rugby union before his international début, Harris struggled, particularly with his tactical kicking.
I blame Jiffy. Iestyn had that awesome debut for Cardiff (a hattrick and a truckload of points if I remember rightly) then Jiffy was leading the charge for his instant elevation.penguin wrote:We did our usual thing with him, build him up straight away, throw him in at the deep end at 10...and then declare him a disaster when he unsurprisingly failed. More time and less pressure was definitely required for him. Jason Robinson was garbage first time he came down from league. Remember watching him in that European game at CAP for bath, he didn't know his elbow from his arsehole that night, but was given time and made the switch.Frodder wrote:Iestyn poor Iestyn. Not injuries, just supremely unfit. Went to Leicester and is now back home. Cassiem was injured but is now v good.penguin wrote:Clayton Blommetjies - plenty of injuries during his time there, so some sympathy...but yeah, not a success story.Frodder wrote:What about that Saffa full back the Scarlets signed.
