It's just as much a criticism of the Pro14 and EPCR, taking the finals from the rugby diaspora and selling them to other spivs or to soccer grounds.
Most finals could find a home in any country that has a 45,000+ seat rugby ground, keeping more money within the game.

Glasgow is Scotland's largest urban area, and has been home to Scotland's best team for a while now, so I think taking it there is fair game. Much has also rightly been made about the growth of rugby in Glasgow over the last 10 years. If the game is to grow I don't see why it shouldn't move around, Celtic park perhaps isn't 100% ideal but it's a great facility (ditto St James'), and the atmosphere (by my reading anyway) was pretty good. It's a real shame there were some in attendance who saw fit to yell during kicks etc but they were a minority. The Pro14 handling of the event is another matter so if folks have issue with that then fair enough there's always bits and bobs that can be improved upon no doubt, such as logistics, pre match entertainment etc. But taking it to other stadiums should always be an option to be explored.

The uncouth behaviour of some on here matches the alleged poor behaviour of the Glasgow crowd. Glasgow is as worthy a venue as any other. Okay, maybe that part of Glasgow isn't exactly rugby country and yes there are some valid talking points, but the cheap sniping point scoring is contemptible.

The Pro14 admin brought the final to a city that doesn't usually host rugby matches of that stature, introducing the game and the league to thousands of people that would ordinarily have limited exposure to it. They are to be commended. The fact that many of those people are more used to a football environment may leave the snobs noses out of joint - but fudge those arrogant twats!

I have no issues with a hostile crowd at all and in fact welcome it. Yes I would agree that booing isn't the best way to express that hostility. There are valid criticisms if some of the alleged behaviour is true and its fine to discuss that, but I always find that when trying to change people's minds or their behaviour, you're better off not starting the conversation by calling them a kunt!

I remember a lot of booing in the RDS in 2012 when Biggar was lining up the winning conversion from the touchline.

It happens when the home support get too passionate in a significant game. Having it in Celtic Park definitely added to it.

Where did you take this from ? A few people on FB saying the atmosphere at the match was pretty toxic . I watched the game in a busy pub so couldn’t hear much

It was total shit. Very nasty element in the stadium, a lot of whom had never been to rugby match in their lives listening to the stupid comments about the 'rules' from where I was sitting.
No respect for the winners or indeed their own team as the stadium emptied before the medals were handed out. Been to a lot of finals, this was the worst venue and crowd I have ever witnessed.
Instead of a full reply would you mind if I just referred you to my earlier post about sanctimonious Irish rugby supporters?

By the way, I was at the Aviva this year for the England game and I have never seen an emptier stadium at the final whistle in all my years

And the virtue signaling about uncouth behaviour is as bad as the snide comments etc ...

Tbf I think the discussion on here about the atmosphere at the match has been pretty civilized. Most other social media threads have been a car crash with Leinster fans claiming the environment was caustic from pre match through to the medal ceremony and Glasgow supporters in complete denial. Of course you don’t start a constructive conversation by calling someone a kunt but I don’t see evidence of that , or the snide remarks you refer to .

It’s a chat forum , people are going to give opinions

I think Bryan Moore had complaints about the behaviour of Leinster fans at the European final.

So you cant just blame the Glaswegians.

I'm certainly not lumping everyone into the same boat with my criticism. As I said in my post there are certainly talking points and I have no issue with them being discussed. But, there are also those that have questioned Glasgow's right to host the final - which obviously complete bollocks! There has been plenty of other comments that have come across as snide, and obviously not just to me as you can see many of the Scots posters have gotten very defensive about it (rightly so IMO). Seeing as most haven't bothered to clarify/caveat their comments then I can only judge the snideness to be deliberate. Again, its not everyone, but those that are are derailing the genuine conversation.

There are those on their high horses, with noses upturned, complaining about football fans in attendance, but unless you want the professional club game to disappear up its own arse, these new additions are needed and we need to welcome them, not hurl abuse at them. Yes behaviour we find unacceptable should be highlighted and discussed, but cheap trolling isn't going to achieve anything (Post match at least - its obviously fair game for pre-match spite).

Mullet -
By hostile I meant engaged and parochial, not abusive. And we need to bring new fans into the fold otherwise the professional club game will be destroyed.

As a Munster fan who lives in Scotland, I attended as a neutral along with a couple Scottish mates. There were definitely more boo boys out compared to normal but there wasn't a single incident that we could see in terms of genuinely abusive behaviour and the fans were mingling well all day. If I was offered this atmosphere every game compared to an Edinburgh match in Murrayfield I'd 100% take Celtic Park over the Library.
