Tough one....Lions really have not produced this year. Junktjies is part of the problem. Under pressure he becomes silly. I have respected the Lions as the team to beat for years now but it seems to be fading...with Marx back you never know.

Bottom of the Line....This is a must win for both sides...

so who to support...

Noone....this is a wooden spoon clash . But could be interesting to watch

Actually...going for a Lions win here...They need the boost to the playoffs...Bulls are dead in the water and Stormers cant make playoffs.

I am happy with the way the Lions have started to play in recent weeks. They were probably unlucky yesterday as they made the most of the attacking plays and Mapimpi's intercept was probably a 14 point swing while Herbst was unlucky to have his try disallowed as replays show that he was in fact on his feet when he picked up the ball.

The Stormers have started to attack well too so the game could be a spectacle. We know the Lions won't go all defensive but the Stormers might

It was frustrating how often we were camped near the Sharks tryline and not being able to get through

The casualty list after Saturday’s game includes captain Siya Kolisi (knee), Pieter-Steph du Toit (AC joint), Scarra Ntubeni (thigh) and Kobus van Dyk (knee).

“At this stage, it’s only Siya that’s going for a scan but Scarra suffered a knock and Pieter-Steph will have to see the specialist again on Monday.

“The other ones [injuries] were just superficial or not too serious. It’s just about management now.
There is also uncertainty surrounding Bongi Mbonambi’s availability for the match against the Lions.

The Bok hooker missed the Highlanders match because of a quad injury.

Big game. For me, the Stormers are hitting form at the business end of the competition and that bodes well for this game. I don't usually back the away team, but for this game I will.

If we can pull of a win here, it will be mightily close in the conference once again, as I feel the Bulls, Sharks and Jags could lose this weekend.

I thought the Lions were unlucky against a strong settled Sharks side. Intercept tries can be cruel. Stormers will have to play very well to win this one. I think the key for the Stormers is going to be to disrupt the Lions set pieces. With Marx back it may be a lot tougher to do that though.

Agreed, but I feel we're in with a much bigger chance than about a month ago.

Yep

2 Stormers refs, 1 WP bred Bulls ref and a Sharks TMO

The Lions will just have to play the refs out of the game

And not throw intercept passes

Cape Town - A positive attitude and mindset will be key for the Stormers when they travel up to Johannesburg to face the Lions this weekend, coach Robbie Fleck has stressed.

Following their encouraging four-try 34-22 win against the Highlanders at Newlands over the weekend, the Stormers have set their sights on bringing the same intensity away from home this weekend.

Fleck said that the players will be managed carefully this week after two physically demanding games at Newlands against the Crusaders and Highlanders, with the focus on preparing the players mentally and tactically for the challenge that lies ahead at Ellis Park.

and getting them ready for the weekend," Fleck told the Stormers' official website.

"Just seeing the response from the players, the way that they are training and the way they responded out there on the day. There is a different feel about it.

"The mindset is there and the attitude is there, now it is just about getting the bodies ready for the next challenge," he said.

Fleck knows that it will take another immense effort to get a win in Johannesburg, which would give his side some valuable momentum ahead of their two home games against the Sunwolves and Sharks.

"We haven't beaten the Lions for some time up at Ellis Park, they seem to be finding some form again.

"There are a few bumps and bruises over the past two weeks and some have also happened in training, so we are going to have to be really smart about how we go about things from here, both for the Lions game this week and beyond that.

"What is important for us is that we get a strong squad together and prepare well. We can only look forward, the group is happy and confident.

"We are going to keep working hard and keep putting plans in place and getting these boys fresh and keen to play," he explained.

Fleck was full of praise for his team's attacking intent against the Highlanders, which saw them score four tries in front of the Newlands faithful.

"It was good to see boys mix it up a bit. The defence was there again and we backed our defence up from last week. But I really enjoyed the way the guys varied the game, we were shifting points of attack which made their defence worry about certain aspects. That allowed us to score some decent tries," he said.

Captain Siya Kolisi has gone for a scan on his knee, while lock Pieter-Steph du Toit will see a specialist regarding a shoulder injury. There are also further injury concerns around hooker Scarra Ntubeni (thigh) and flank Kobus van Dyk (knee).
In Fleck they believe.

Say of Fleck what you want (not a fan myself), but the Stormers are peaking at the business end.

Hopefully the two Mariuses will try and make up for their errors in recent weeks :)

Sigh...

If we win this weekend and all the other teams in our conference lose, we're up to second. Bottom of the log means nothing if the margins are that small.

But then, you knew that and were just attempting a very poor troll. Must try harder. 2/10.

Not a troll at all. I was genuinely interested to hear your interpretation of peaking. But as the saying goes, the only way is up. When you're at the bottom. Which you are.

:uhoh:

6 points. That's the difference between first and last in the SA conference. Looking at games left per team, I'm confident that we will make the play offs. We should win 2 from 3. Sharks could be looking at 0 from 3.

Africas greatest rugby team ever ......
Its a no-brainer assfly.........

Sharks are going to be 0 from 3 so us and the Bulls are out of the comp....
Lions will be out after this weekend too...

Just the Stormers to make us proud then....the greatest come from behind in the history of the tournament....

You've got a better chance of winning the lottery than predicting the last 3 rounds in the Saffer conference.

I'm quietly confident tho.

Jens, we could lose against the Lions, it's possible. We should beat the Sunwolves at home. We've beaten the Sharks away when we were sh1t, now we're in a bit of form and playing them at home.

At worst 2 from 3, at best 3 from 3.
