It was a bad game. The kicking was poor and the aerial contests were poor...from both teams.

I don’t mind the tactics, it’s proven to be effective, but I hate it when the players that have played this way for years now, execute this poorly.

Two quite low scoring SFs but such contrasting games. The England win felt like a rout.

Liam Williams, too.

For all that 1/2p was fine with the high ball, in a game with so much kicking you want someone who is not only able to take the ball, but then has the vision and quality to do something with it. There must have been about 70 kicks in the game, and Wales had pretty much zero counter-attacks. Williams has that ability to counter.

Nkosi needs to go, there has to be someone better than him, defensively he can cost a team the game

This was in fact SF#2 of RWC2019 but I'm hoping it was also the Final of PoxballWC2019, and a game of rugby might break out next week.

We hope. But I also wanted nkosi to have a good game so that Kolbe could move to 15. Now I’m. It so sure. Kolbe at wing with Willemse or Gelant at 15. Frans as well an option but Rassie will keep him on the bench

The catching of high balls was not great, but i will not be to critical on them for that. I have a friend that is at the stadium and he txt that the wind was swirling a lot in the stands. So both teams were trying to use the high ball in hope of the opposition making mistakes under the uncertain ball.
As i said before Rassie only cared about getting the win, no matter how they got it. Its not pretty and very frustrating at times.
One thing for sure next week, its going to be very physical in the forwards.

That would be great to have Willemse or Gelant in with Kolbe back. I just do not see Rassie making any changes unless its enforced.

You don’t go playing around and changing combos for a final.
As much as I think Willie has over stayed his welcome and is a shadow of the player he once was.

Box kick and hope for a mistake is not a gameplan Gatland.

To be fair i think few people expected this game to be any different. Two teams playing very much the same style.
Games between the AB's and Boks can be very exciting at times due to very contrasting approaches.
Not sure about next week's game as England and SA tend to smash each other in games too.

Interesting comment about the wind. Didn’t pick it up during goal kicking, but that would explain some of the cases where Mapimpi overran the kick by some margin.

Really wish we could make more of those kicks though. Have wings that are better in the air and/or loosies that can force a turnover from the catcher. We seem to be lacking both at the moment.

They are SH champions and have just beaten the NH champions, a team that have made England their bitches. They have a winning record against England.

Clear favourites.
That is a compelling argument BUT you are coached by the springboks nemesis
If anyone can out think the Boks it’s Eddie

I do hope SA will invest in a good attacking coach post WC. The other coaches are doing a great job but currently our attack is being coached by forward. :P

No boet. He overran the kick because you thought Faf was going to at least kick it further than where the forwards were standing

Yeah we currently do not have the wingers and fullback that can constantly chase and retrieve high balls on a regular basis. The last time we had that was the Habana, Pietersen and Montgomery combination. They were lethal. With them we had about a 70% chance of getting the ball back, right now its more like 40% if lucky

Indeed. It will take time to build a good attack, I hope we can start next year and get it ready for the Lions tour :D

If we can pair this defense with a half-decent attack it could be a good era for Bok-rugby.

Congratulations to SA.

A dreary game of very limited quality but you took your chances and were resilient in defence.

Good setpiece. Huge physicality. No panic. And a bit of star quality.

I wish you well.

That was a poor game with poor kicking and neither team looking half decent. If England play well I don't see Saffers getting anywhere near them.

Awesome kick in behind by Frans on about 76 and half minutes. I lost it a bit when he put that in, knew it was going to be extremely difficult for Wales to get out of their 22 again from there.

Frans has still never lost a RWC match, didn't come on against the All Blacks.

Would Rassie drop Le Roux and start Frans I wonder.

Both teams played pure % rugby designed to not lose. End result was 1 kick the difference. The ref had no influence on the outcome. A fair result but perhaps not the fairytale result.

He’d be a better option for sure but I think Rassie values his bench cover more.
