I am sorry but I am not going to get involved with something as sinful as ladies' rugby. Ladies' rugby is as perverse as ladies' mud wrestling.

Good men should avoid such things.

It doesn't work that way because not every sin is listed.

Take the sin of drugs. If a man sells fentanyl to his neighbor and his neighbor overdoses and dies, is that not a sin?

God expects us to use common sense.

The more I think about this match, the more I think South Africa could grind it out. They are not complete no hopers. Any team with Etzebeth, De jager, De Klerk, Pollard, De Allende and Kolbe has a chance.

It is not a case of England just turning up and being handed the trophy.

It's far from that. SA are better equipped than NZ to counter the strengths of the England side - and should have the upper hand in the set pieces. Could be a real battle.

Set pieces maybe, but the Boks have to be really competitive in the loose to give us a glimmer of hope. O yes, and tackle like demons in the backs.

Kyle Sinckler has been passed fit for England’s World Cup final against South Africa on Saturday with Eddie Jones selecting an unchanged XV to face the Springboks. Jones has opted to stick by George Ford at fly-half with his captain Owen Farrell at outside centre and has received a major boost with Sinckler recovering from a calf injury to continue at tighthead prop.

Sinckler was replaced early in the second half of England’s semi-final victory over New Zealand and was seen with ice strapped to his leg. His training routine has been largely restricted this week but while he spent the first part of Wednesday’s session away from the squad it is understood he later joined in with his teammates. It is a significant boost for Jones, not only because of Sinckler’s impressive recent form but also because Joe Marler will not be forced into providing emergency tighthead cover.

The only change to the matchday 23 comes on the bench with Ben Spencer replacing the injured Willi Heinz. Spencer arrived in Japan on Monday and has spent the week getting up to speed and if he comes off the bench he will make his World Cup debut in the final.

Ford continues at fly-half after orchestrating England’s 19-7 win over the All Blacks, when he took over goalkicking responsibilities with Farrell struggling with a dead leg. Against Australia in the quarter-final, Ford was dropped with Jones bolstering his midfield to counter the threat of the Wallabies’ Samu Kerevi. South Africa have a similarly powerful runner in Damian de Allende at inside centre but Jones has resisted any temptations to restore Henry Slade to the starting lineup.

“It has been a good week, the players have been together a while now so it’s less about the volume of training this week, it’s more about sharpening the sword,” said Jones, who takes charge of England for the 50th time. “South Africa are a difficult opponent and we are going to have to fight really hard to win. We know the physical part of the game is going to be important and the players will go into this game well prepared knowing how we want to play. We will go and play with no fear.

“South Africa will probably play a similar type of game they have played all tournament so we need be good in the arm wrestle and when we have the opportunities to break the game up, we are then confident and composed enough to take them.”

Courtney Lawes continues in the second row alongside Maro Itoje, with George Kruis again among the replacements. Mako Vunipola, Jamie George are alongside Sinckler in the front row while Tom Curry and Sam Underill are again named as the flankers and Billy Vunipola at No 8. Ben Youngs continues at scrum-half with Manu Tuilagi at outside centre while the back-three is comprised of Elliot Daly, Anthony Watson and Jonny May.

England: Elliot Daly; Anthony Watson, Manu Tuilagi, Owen Farrell (captain); Jonny May, George Ford, Ben Youngs; Mako Vunipola, Jamie George, Kyle Sinckler, Maro Itoje, Courtney Lawes, Tom Curry, Sam Underhill, Billy Vunipola. Replacements: Luke Cowan-Dickie, Joe Marler, Dan Cole, George Kruis, Mark Wilson, Ben Spencer, Henry Slade, Jonathan Joseph.

Compare England's achievements in the RWC regarding SH opponents, and then consider what SA did in the RC (right before the World Cup):

Eng 39–10 Argentina 13–46 SA (away)

Eng 40-26 Australia 17–35 SA (home with B-side)

Eng 19-7 New Zealand 16–16 SA (away)

So maybe all the SH opponents that Eng played were not as good as they thought, except maybe for New Zealand. So all the hype from Eng comes from a solitary game against the AB's.

In the Argentina game Eng played against 14 men. In the Australia game, Aus reverted to an insane strategy to run everything from their 22, regardless of situation (a tactic they have never tried before against a tier 1 nation).

Not to forget that the AB's found themselves in a very similar situation that Eng find themselves this week: having psyched themselves up for a particular opponent, only to find the "damp squib" waiting for them the next week.

And then losing.

Badly.

England plays an impressive and original style of rugby. Already against Aus it was very noticeable. But I think that all of that requires forward dominance, which they won't have against SA. The style is refreshing, exhilarating and should be celebrated, but Rassieball will sadly and happily trump it (of course, in my humble opinion).

As a Kiwi neutral I hope the final finishes a draw at full time and a draw after extra time ... and then a team is AWARDED the World Cup based on #line outs won and/or greatest number of line-breaks 🙃 .... or preferably for the most expletives spoken in a non- English tongue 🙃

The narrative is now that a Springbok win will be bad for rugby; will set it back years.

A view increasingly popular in New Zealand.

Now where have I heard that before?

On my bookshelf a book almost 40 years old: "Goodbye to Glory: All Blacks Tour of South Africa, 1976" by cretin Terry Maclean. They had arrived here expecting to sweep all before them but left with their tails between their legs, complaining about our style of rugby and how it spelt the end of all rugby.

Their coach - JJ Stewart - summed it up "finish and klaar - goodbye to glory".

Edit:

Very pleased with Eddie’s team selection. Clearly he is looking to keep the South African fatties trundling around the park, chasing the ball, until they are exhausted. Will be a fascinating final!

Take a look at Etzebeth, de Jager and du Toit. They are all over 2 meters tall and they are powerful lean athletes. There is a big difference between athletic, highly conditioned big men and fat oafs who swill beer by the case and stuff themselves with greasy fish and chips.

I didn't do a head to head but when i used the saru weights it put them at a more realistic 929 rather than the 900 World rugby had them at in the Wales game.
