After beating the All Blacks this final should have been for the taking by England. They did what the South Africans couldn't do in their pool game against NZ. Plus England were the higher ranked team. Ultimate choke.

When did Itoje last miss a simple restart catch?

When did so many of our players simply throw the ball into touch?

Whether it was choking or mental lethargy, they clearly weren’t all there tonight.

I actually feel for England fans at the moment. No disrespect to the Springboks, but I thought England were the better side. I guess the old adage is true, anything can happen in sports. Well done Springboks.

England aren't exactly known for scoring tries, so when you fail so spectacularly in the scrum, you're f**ked. There was nothing left after last week too.

Beating all four rugby championship sides was always going to be a tall ask, talk of a power shift north was premature.

Congratulations Saffers.........you used Englands previous gameplan from the NZ game....on England. Deserved winners on the night......out muscled the opposition.

Commiserations England......tournaments are strange beasts.....three teams with one loss.....yet one takes the big prize....

Otherwise known as a choke.

Given how nervously we played from the start and the number of panic passes to no-one, we definitely choked in that sense. SA were brilliant, mind.

What game were you watching? england were horrible. So many missed tackles, so many simple errors. Errors they didn't make last week. They never turned up. Ford was horrible (and I am a fan). Manu Tuilagi didn't get involved. This was a comprehensive win for SA. They were pretty much playing to a plan and within themselves all game.

Gats had it partially right, they played their final last week and SA strangled them this week.

England need a Haka to get them up for a game. They looked flat af tonight and no rich boy smirks at all. Let's blame the fact that no haka won SA the game.

Seems to me they need to be underdogs or slagged off during the week to get the best out of them. Like most teams it seems. They should be ashamed of themselves for that today

Its as Gatland said,England player their final last week. Nothing to do with not turning up. There was nothing left, tactically or physically. They had one big game in them and that was it, last week.

Nah, you played a bit shit, which was all it took for a clinical Bok to take the prize. It was still a tense game and no forgone conclusion until the last 10, while your team emptied the tank. So, well done to the English team for making the final and putting up a fight. More than can be said for the ABs last weekend, save Savea and Goodhue, in the first 40.
