I think people forget just how far left the shinners are supposed to be, in theory at least.

Shinner elected in Fingal on the first count.
Gemtraila got 1200 first preferences.

Aongus O'Snodaigh just shy of twice the quota in Dublin SC with no running mate. They've pissed so many first preferences away.

There's a 22 year old student voted in in Galway. Quite literally a donkey could get in on the SF ticket

There's a SF lad in wexford who got 800 votes in the recent local elections for the council, lost his seat and got 19k 1st preferences yesterday for the DáilBoxcar Ira wrote:There's a 22 year old student voted in in Galway. Quite literally a donkey could get in on the SF ticket

I hope the Shinners get a crack at governing, I think the gloss will wear off them pretty quickly.

This is it. My issue would be we are at a sensitive time for investment. Relationship between us and Europe being redefined and the US watchful. Whatever the truth of it the, and I think they would be probably OK, the belief is they will fück business

That's not unusual from what I've seen. Something like 60% of their voters were voting for the party not the candidate. Almost an exact inverse of the case for FF.danthefan wrote:What the fuckity-fudge.Wolfe Tone wrote: There's a SF lad in wexford who got 800 votes in the recent local elections for the council, lost his seat and got 19k 1st preferences yesterday for the Dáil

Re: Irishers-Official 33rd Dáil Éireann election thread
Apparently it's consistent with Coalitions on the continent. And it makes sense. Junior parties get pasted for hanging onto power at all costs and come out the far side with little to show for it. The stakes are probably less for them in terms of a backlash if they go back to the polls early. Not sure if that applies to SF with +20% of the vote.Uncle Fester wrote:Not a bad shout although you could argue that they didn't face the electorate for another 3 years.
Also a very underrated government who got seriously black guarded by the sindo press.

Coppinger came from about 500 behind to go 840 votes ahead after the Shinner surplus. The green will struggle to catch her on FG/Lab transfers

Shinners winning all around them. Busting quotas across the country.crouchy wrote:Can someone summarise it for me so far? Been unable to follow anything today.
If they had ran more candidates they'd be by far the biggest party in the Dáil.
Fianna Fáil on the contrary seem to have ran too many candidates in many constituencies and aren't capitalising on their vote share.
Re: Irishers-Official 33rd Dáil Éireann election thread
We should geld all males of voting age for allowing a corrupt charlatan to get voted in for the last 20 years ... it would be an ironic bloodstock-industry act that the thickos in Tipp might just understand.crouchy wrote:I see that corrupt plum Lowry just topped the vote in Tipp.
There seem to be no votes in good government and lots for being a slithery Micky ...

I've just been looking at East Galway.
If FF get 130 transfers more than scum off FG then O'Hara finishes 4th in a 3 seater.
