Really don't think it's lesser of two. Once they're in government it'll legitimise them more and make it easier for fence sitters to vote for them. Have to find some sort of stable government while the centre goes on all out attack re. their policies and terrorism.

This is it. My issue would be we are at a sensitive time for investment. Relationship between us and Europe being redefined and the US watchful. Whatever the truth of it the, and I think they would be probably OK, the belief is they will fück business

That's not unusual from what I've seen. Something like 60% of their voters were voting for the party not the candidate. Almost an exact inverse of the case for FF.

Apparently it's consistent with Coalitions on the continent. And it makes sense. Junior parties get pasted for hanging onto power at all costs and come out the far side with little to show for it. The stakes are probably less for them in terms of a backlash if they go back to the polls early. Not sure if that applies to SF with +20% of the vote.

Fianna Fáil on the contrary seem to have ran too many candidates in many constituencies and aren't capitalising on their vote share.
