Brushing things under the carpet and waiting for a "better time" to bring things up is a well proven path to unsuccessfully addressing any problem.
There are studies that suggest that suicide is a social phenomenon though. Memory is struggling here, but there was a relative small island population with no obvious suicide issue, famous popstar kills themself (from the island) and suddenly loads of teens/youth start doing it.

On the suicide thing, it would hardly be surprising if true, and is exactly one of the reasons why you don't lockdown too early.
Just looked at the world suicide rates. Seems the West Indies have the least people in despair. Surprised at how high Australia and New Zealand are.

Socail contagion is a a real problem with suicide though.

For anyone interested in all of this:

Complete average joe breakdown of the virus, what it does, how it works and the stats behind it. I'm sure someone will say it's not accurate but it's a fairly good summarisation to me.

Yep. Also a follow-up was a similar report from a New York ICU. They're having to use garbage bags and ski masks to get by

The Queen wants to stay in the EU? So that the windsor sleeper cell of germans can conspire with angela to take over the continent? Good theory

I saw this comment from a US doctor yesterday:

“We are still being told that we don’t “need” full PPE when seeing positive patients. 12 Nurses infected at University of Illinois Hospital, 13 at University of Chicago. A Pulmonary Doctor I know bought his own full set of PPE, wears it constantly, and was told off by Hospital Administrators because he was “scaring” the Nurses. At Massachusetts General, 41 infected employees, and the Hospital releasing a statement that these were not work related.
I’d like to force Hospital Administrators to sit and triage patients and see how sanguine they feel about it.”

439 according to worldometers (today's 5,373 - yesterday's 4,934), which is still a steep drop.

I've been graphing a rolling 3 day median of UK & Italy daily deaths, lined up on 7th March in Italy == 21st March in UK (both had 233 total deaths that day, and the lines leading up are all but inseparable). Average for the 5th April in the UK is the first drop, and it's a steep one; but interestingly Italy also had a (smaller) drop at relatively the same time (22nd-24th March), but then picked up again to peak for real (it seems) on 28th March.
Sturgeon warned that Scotland stats are being changed in the way they are reported so there will be a bump in the next couple days, to catch up the under reporting of deaths from Sunday/Monday (2 each day with deaths in 40's the days prior to that). Will also report shortly on deaths in the community so expect a bump there too. Not sure about care homes stats at the mo.

NL looks to be at the top of the peak now (so long as people continue to follow the rules). They estimate 3 weeks til ICU peak. The time ratio of up to the peak vs down, assuming NL remains under the ICU overrun limit seems to be 1:3 (ish). So back to work somewhere in July.

I think it's that Boris took the virus lightly and is now experiencing what it can do up close.

Well of course there’s no evidence of it being “taken lightly” so that’s a confusing take.

No it was driven by the science. As the science changed [Imperial College] so did government policy. Sweden is still following the herd immunity strategy.
