I don't see how we stop this thing with cases like this. There has to thousands if not hundreds of thousands carriers with mild symptoms out there. The Washington one is worrying, similar to the Italian one (as far as I've heard they don't know how patient 'zero' got it there?).
Vaccines are not expected to be ready until late in the year. I think it's bumble along until we get them
Israel saying they'll have one in a few weeks.
Have a vaccinee, or start the process of testing? The UK have somewhere claiming that they seem to be having some serious successes too, but there's a big difference between a vaccine and a product ready for testing.

Wasn't there issues with the swine flu vaccine because it was rushed?

Or am I just remembering some anti-vax propaganda?

They're claiming it will be available to the gen pop within 90 days.

It'd be an interesting conspiracy theory. Virus created by Israel, planted far enough away in China to hopefully not impact the west too much but enough for it to be serious. Then they come in to save the day and everyone stops complaining about them for a while.

Nah, a vaccination that sterilises whitey, furthering the great replacement surely?

Clever, adapting an already tested vaccine (albeit on animals). Can see how that would cut down on the testing time, and have it ready for humans sooner.

Link to paper on different levels of cell receptors among different populations, male/female.

The suggestion if I read it correctly is that Han Chinese (prob a proxy for any East Asian)
Are more susceptible due to higher number of ACE2 cell receptors and less variation among those receptors, the virus presumably not able to attach to all variants.

If correct, it could be good news for everyone else.

Someone pages back said race has no bearing on anything but I do think that climate/environment races live in has a bearing. Surely a densely populated area with higher levels of pollution is going to be more susceptible to disease than somewhere like Europe? Granted science is not my strong point and I could be talking bollocks but you would think those factors lead to some kind of variance - hopefully positive

Population density and pollution does not equal race. Anyway things definitely going back to normal in China, I'm flying back there in the next week or so!

Indeed.

The thing is only spread by droplets and not air, so the more people crammed in together would automatically make the chances of getting it worse.

Which coincidentally makes being a kiwi quite handy being so low density.

My suggestion

Don't let people cough or sneeze in your face or hands.

If all other countries die horribly, don't worry. We will take care of things

You have just said what I meant in a better way
A race who lives in a more densely populated area and a more polluted area probably are going to have worse immune system than someone form Europe/the US

Pollution can certainly suppress the immune system. Increasing population density can aid in the spread of a disease but can also help in developing immunity.

F**king disaster if it happens, weekends full of trips to Ikea and softplay areas.
