I believe him over a mentally ill woman that showed up to the hospital wearing underwear covered in semen stains from multiple men.

Kobe apologized and admitted he did things she did not find consensual. If you believe him then you believe some kind of sexual assault did happen.

The equivalent of calling Winston Churchill a raging alcoholic in a big newspaper ad among his obits.
EH, no good obituary leaves out major events in anyone's lives. Most mention their triumphs and bad times and mistakes. AN obituary will discuss any significant events and actions Churchill took. If it mentioned he drunk every day. In fact some of his obituary's did mention his drinking, including the exctent of it drinking over breakfast:

I'm just saying don't lead with it, like this reporter did.

Most of us were aware of it, it just didn't need to be broadcast as the focus within hours of his death.

Reading between the lines. That does not say "sorry for raping you". It says "I'm sorry I treated you like a ho. I'm sorry you feel like a slut and suicidal. I now understand I should have asked for your verbal consent before ejaculating on your face."

The spermy panties? That is actually true.

Not that that actually tells you what happened that night, but let's face it, no one but them knows with even the slightest certainty what happened. Anybody that says otherwise is full of shit.

Vaginal tearing, especially to the area (posterior fourchette, i.e. the bottom of the clam) that was mentioned in that Daily Beast article, is not at all uncommon in consensual sex. Other than that it's a matter of whose story you want to believe.

“[The nurse] stated that there were several lacerations to the victim’s posterior fourchette or vaginal area, and two of those lacerations were approximately one centimeter in length,” testified Det. Winters. “And there were many, I believe, 2 millimeter lacerations. Too many to count… [The nurse] stated that the injuries were consistent with penetrating genital trauma. That it’s not consistent with consensual sex.”

Det. Winters further stated that the nurse told him the vaginal injuries had most likely occurred within “24 hours,” and that the accuser had “a small bruise on her left jaw line.” Also, that examiners had found “blood excretions” on Bryant’s T-shirt “to about the waistline.” The blood, testified Det. Winters, had “the same DNA profile as the victim in this case.”
I believe the nurse

He didn't ejaculate in her face
During our conversation with Bryant, we asked him since he didn’t ejaculate in [redacted] if he ejaculated later. Bryant stated he did,” read Det. Winters’ report. “We asked Bryant where did he ejaculate. He stated he ejaculated onto a white T-shirt after [redacted] left. We asked Bryant if we could have that T-shirt. He agreed. I remember Detective Loya following Bryant into Bryant’s room and I followed them. I did not see where Bryant got the T-shirt from. However, Bryant stated that the T-shirt he was holding was the T-shirt he ejaculated into. He then threw the T-shirt at me. I told Bryant not to throw it at me because I would come pick it up in a safe location. I caught the T-shirt around the neck region. Bryant told me he didn’t ‘shoot it’ that far up. Meaning he didn’t ejaculate that far up the T-shirt.”

DON'T AIRBRUSH KOBE'S PAST

On social media this week, a lot of people who had never met Kobe Bryant offered their thoughts on his sad passing.

There is no question that a hotel maid working at the Lodge & Spa at Cordillera, a resort in Edwards, Colorado, did meet Bryant on June 30, 2003.

Yet it is her very real memories these same folk want airbrushed from memory.

Felicia Sonmez, a reporter from the Washington Post, tweeted a link to a forensic account of events that night — which ended in an allegation of rape — and found herself the victim of another kind of assault.

Her newspaper suspended her, shamefully, and tens of thousands directed their anger at her apparent insensitivity, calling for her to be sacked. The phrase #ByeFelicia — stolen from the film Friday — began trending on Twitter, often from the fingertips of people not brave enough to use their own names.

The backlash against the backlash, however, appears to have saved Sonmez from her cowardly employers.

The Washington Post, confronted by an internal revolt from hundreds of her colleagues, including Pullitzer Prize winners, have since announced Sonmez was guilty of no more than bad timing.

Even that seems to stretch it a little. Anyone who has read the details of the case would find them problematic. Bryant, too, apparently.

'I want to apologise directly to the young woman involved in this incident. I want to apologise to her for my behaviour that night and for the consequences she has suffered in the past year. I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter,' he wrote, prior to settling a civil court action.

So amid the deluge of words eulogising Bryant the athlete, and the man, there was surely also room for this shade. Sonmez had written about her own experiences of sexual abuse in 2018; in the circumstances, her reaction to the unquestioning celebration of Bryant in death was hardly out of character.

Yet this remains the dilemma. Separating the athlete from the human being.

It can happen in life, too, as the organisers of the Australian Open are discovering as they grapple around the acknowledgement of Margaret Court.

I wrote this newspaper's tribute to Bryant on Sunday, the one that appeared in the sports pages the next day. Three quarters in, I paused and wondered whether to include mention of the rape allegation against him.

I decided it didn't feel right to record that, but not other aspects of his personal life. So the piece limited itself to Bryant the baller, to his influence on the sport, his athletic style, the respect of his peers. But that doesn't mean there are not other stories to be told; and because some mourners do not want to hear them, it does not mean they do not exist.
I have to say I do agree with this take.
Well then I think you’ve got a bad perspective. Her first instinct was to rush and post about the allegations. Anyone who knows anything about Kobe knows of the rape allegations as they were a huge part of his career. Every single take I’ve seen, even from woke outlets like The Ringer, has said it’s difficult to reconcile Kobe the superstar with the unsavoury parts of his background. What Sonmez was doing has no value, she couldn’t even wait a day before wailing on Bryant for something we all know happened anyway. It’s virtue signalling to the worst degree and about the best example of the AWFL phenomena as you can get.

Besides, the allegations against him were never proven. He apologised for his actions but says he thought she consented and she said she didn’t. Plus she wasn’t entirely truthful about her account of events leading up to and after what happened.

A man and his daughter, hugely loved in LA and around the world, were just killed in a helicopter crash along with 7 or so others and the first thing you do is bring up allegations made against the man 17 years ago?
As opposed to the “great guy” and “hero” garbage that was already being presented on the world media by the Yank media? Granted he was a great sportsman but beyond that he was not. She brought some perspective to that overload and to stand her down on the first instance while understandable that any lowlife is great in Yankee perspective considering the moron in Trump they have leading them was pretty poor. Some balance has been restored with her being reinstated.

Not a basketball fan but in summary a billionaire in a hurry died in a helicopter crash and took a few people including family and friends with him. He may or may not have raped somebody but used money to shut everybody up.
Am I meant to be sad or not because to be honest I don't give a shit.

Why don't you take a look at who's actually giving that testimony?

And if you want to see some semblance of actual expertise on the topic: https://depts.washington.edu/hcsats/tra ... ndings.pdf - see Table 3 especially. They note that the results are consistent with past findings of other researchers as well.
Currently, many experts and laypersons alike believe that if women do not consent to intercourse, they are more likely to have injuries to their genital area. Based on the findings of this study and several other studies, there is evidence to suggest that injuries can be identified on examination after both nonconsensual and consensual intercourse.
