Trump (as Bush did) speak in incredibly simple language, but that is a large part of their appeal, (and one reason why Obama struggled with many Americans) ..

I know somebody who has worked with both dubya and biden and according to them they are both thick. However they are both aware of it to some degree which means its not much of a problem.

Regardless of media trumpeting and faux pas Biden seems well ahead now in the polls as noted by Fox.

Also the woman who has accused Biden of sexual assault, well it turns out she's not entirely a reliable witness whose word is going to carry weight in the court of public opinion, the university degree she claims and obtained employment with is fake and her lawyers have dropped her.

I don’t believe her either. She was far too old for the Joepedo at the time.
Not really creepy Joe’s MO.
But then again, he did say to believe all women who come forward with accusations.

True, but her accusation exposed the hypocrisy in the Democrats and Biden. It's sadly another election between two corrupt, hypocritical lying shit stains.

Also have to laugh at the armchair neurologists claiming Biden has dementia because he has a stutter.

Biden has said take the accusation seriously and has asked for any employment records relating to her complaint to be released.

It's great if that's the case. I just wish everyone would have this same level of scrutiny on every case of this, not just the ones where it's difficult politically. Family member of mine is going through this shit now, and "believe all women" is a crock of shit for the natural rights the accused are supposed to have.

Surely the strong anti-intellectual streak among right wing populists hasn't passed you by? That comes from their base, the people they want the votes of.

Obama was catnip to their indignance and outrage. A well spoken, educated black man.

Trump has obliterated the sense of perspective. To actually be worse than him would require a conscious effort and even then you'd struggle to slip under such a low, low bar.

Libertarians held their selection for president over the weekend. Amash tiptoed in and within a couple weeks said he would not run. Their presidential candidate selection took 4 ballots and they selected Jo Jorgensen, a psychology professor at Clemson that was the party's VP nominee way back in 1996. First time the Libertarians have nominated a woman for President.

If anyone wonders how "brokered/contested convention" works, here you are, although the Democrats and Republicans have their own rules:

Candidates required the support of 30 or more delegates to be placed in nomination/having a nominating speech on their behalf. Six met the threshold.

1st ballot:
Jo Jorgensen 248
Jacob Hornberger 236
Vermin Supreme 171
John Monds 147
Judge Jim Gray 98
Adam Kokesh 77
Write-ins 32
None of the Above 8

Majority 509
Kokesh eliminated
2nd ballot:
Jorgensen 339
Hornberger 257
Supreme 184
Monds 169
Gray 64
Write-ins 9
None of the Above 6

Majority 465
Gray eliminated
3rd ballot:
Jorgensen 390
Hornberger 264
Supreme 188
Monds 174
None of the Above 7
Write-ins 3

Majority 514
Monds eliminated
4th ballot:
Jorgensen 524
Hornberger 285
Supreme 206
Write-ins 7
None of the Above 4

Majority 514
Process took about 12 hours as it was conducted virtually.

Really am baffled at the age of these people. These people should be retired, not running a superpower. I seriously do not get how anyone thinks a 78 year old should be *starting* a presidency. Wtf. No one over 70 should even be allowed to run for president.

It's a thought at that.

The lower age limit for Presidential candidacy is 35 and a proposal to lower it to 21 was rejected in 2015 I think?

Different scale obviously but in the UK you are not deemed competent to drive a car until 17. Other than renewing by completing a form at 70 years old, you are free to continue driving without any requirement to retesting of ability.

Jebus, I'll be happy to retain control of my bodily functions when I get to that age never mind control of a potentially lethal road vehicle.

An interesting explanation of who would become president were the elections not held, for whatever reason. I suspected the final answer will come as a surprise to many.

30 still smacks of being dangerously young and inexperienced. It is not a normal job. I would suggest 35, but not whole-heartedly.

Frankly I'd go the reverse

Maximum age for first term set at 55, minimum age something like 25. Frankly you're going to be 30 anyway before you have the political capital and base to have a chance to run, so the minimum is almost completely irrelevant.

Yeah nah

You'd be leaving out some very good presidents with that policy.

There's a dearth of quality leadership as it is, let's not shrink the pool even further.

I think Bidens latest speech appealing to Trump voters to see through the bullshit that he is working for them and that he is only working to cling on to power could be quite effective. Who knows.

You should ask yourself why Americans are supposedly so inured to the BS from Presidents, to the point that they're motivated only by things that affect them personally.

That itself is hard to believe when every, single Fox news items has 10,000 comments from people largely complaining about libtards and uppity blacks.

But, notwithstanding that observation...

Speeches from Biden are therefore unlikely to have an effect. The game seems to be about getting the odd person in the middle fired-up enough to get out and vote.

American exceptionalism represented by couch apathy index LOL

(and I love the US, don't get me wrong)
