Gats never takes someone who is disruptive on Tour. He was very clear for NZ that that is why Mike Brown was never selected. Cipriani still has that tag, reasonable or not.

Did he not pick Andy Powell and Gav during his time with Wales?

Thats a a fair point but then again the same was true of Sinckler in 2017.

I wonder if he knew SOB was going to be the wrong sort before selecting?

Powell has a good heart and all the players love him. Gav was when Woodwank was in charge and he was Asst.

Tbf the Tullow Tank made all the wrong noises upon his return home, knowing he was probably too old for another Tour.

Sorry, you said with Wales. Yes, but in his interview re Brown he made it very clear that a tour was different - people are in each others pockets with nowhere to escape.

Yeah no look, there's a reason why he was England VC and a die hard one club man - he's not a Cipriani style problem player and it's bizarre that people turn "can be a bit stroppy on the pitch and when he's just lost" into anything more.

The same goes for a lot of players, including recent Lions. Like Stuart Hogg or Laidlaw or Biggar or Farrell or Sinckler or... Etc.

I am thinking burger geldehuys on Andy dalton in 1986.

Flaps was pointing out that it is a rarity at international level, and the few examples provided would suggest so.

His original reply was to Crash's comment that Dombrandt "complained about how hard the Welsh Premiership is", which was a reference to the fact that whilst playing for Cardiff Uni Dombrandt had his jaw broken twice in separate incidents when he got sucker punched from behind. The first of which resulted in a criminal conviction for his attacker.

This is unlikely at international level. Even in South Africa.

Ah - thank you.

Burger Geldenhuys did that to Andy Dalton in 1986 and Danie Craven - such was his power in saffa rugby - banned him from future Bok selection. https://youtu.be/YwhScClL8Ms?t=118

I remember also Kobus Wiese blindsiding Derwyn Jones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0gDO0txxvQ

Really is a low act on a rugby field.

And South Africa seems to be coping a bit better than the UK with Covid, I was speaking to family over there and I didn't realise that they banned both cigarettes and alcohol

Too many Irish. Murray ain't going
Re:Irish involvement .....neither Murray nor Cooney will be going (maybe cooney for midweek Team cos he can also play 10 and kick pennos)

On the other hand, there will be a few Irish backrows on Tour including Doris and Leavy (assuming his recovery goes to plan)

Conan has a shout also ....... wainwright ffs?

Ditto Ringrose ...... Tompkins ffs?

Henderson is miles better than Jake ball by the way

Larmour also could travel as a dirt tracker covering wing, 15 and centre

Gatlands affinity for mediocre welsh players presumably won't survive the continuing passing of time in NZ

Jake Ball is massively overrated. He does ok for Wales but there are a lot of English and Irish locks I'd have instead of him.

Nah. He needs the core of one team, England, and the core of another, Wales, and Scotland need a few after the last time and the whole Typhoon disappointment so Ireland need to accept their punishment for 2019 and come back firing for the next outing. Good luck guys
