Probably the previously bought pasta (which is now readily available) is leading this demand.
Orly?
My Waitrose has tomatoes, and Costco Croydon has pallets of the stuff, as well as tinned sweet corn , ratatouille, carrots etc
I actually got a tray of tomatoes on Friday , and some passata.

These blanket statements ‘uk in very short supply’ are a bit to be taken with pinch of salt, and really mean ‘there weren’t any when I went to Asda so there must be a shortage ‘
No, it was something I read a few days ago, then saw none when I needed them.
Here's the Guardian from last Friday.
https://www.theguardian.com/business/20 ... rge-demand

I see you are the reason for the shortage, trying to corner the market by bulk buying.
Wouldn’t necessarily trust the guardian any more than any other rag at present - journos desperate to invent stuff to justify their job most likely.

I said I went to Costco - they don’t do individual tins, just crates. It’s a cash and carry, I’m not bulk buying anything matey, it’s how it comes , and for a family of five, that pack will last us 2 weeks tops :(
Only joking re that bit, but I am going to buy a couple of cans if I come across them.

I've been waiting for 300 headsets for work

Evidently, there are 1,000,000 units on backorder globally

Some very dodgy deals happening in warehouses apparently

I gained a load of brownie points today by finding, acquiring and delivering a (2nd hand) turbo trainer for relative whose one had broken.

Do remember that in several months time all these almost unused and sometimes very expensive turbo trainers will be appearing for sale for much more reasonable prices.

We have backorders that we're expecting 5 months to fulfil. If you don't have them now you're not going to get them before you come out of lockdown.

Same for personal sized webcams. I ended up with a customer today ordering 200 Logitech Meetups at 700 a pop in order to enable execs to have decent WFH video. PPE is free and bountiful in comparison

Our Logitech Tap Camera that was part of a unit was "Hijacked", probably by a bank.

supposedly we are looking at 10-15 days

It hasn't stopped our Teams rollout, just the external telephony component for non-pilot members
