Tried out Trickster and it works very well. Can also play against the computer which is handy.

I don’t think you will find I was gloating - I agree the word fun might have been a better fit than cool however.

Maybe I overreacted, but when I work mostly for about 10-12 guys who have buried themselves in building up good, ethical businesses over the last decade and then see approx 50% of them go down the drain, with the other half just creeping through this it fúcking grates. This industry is not going to invest for quite a while.

Then I have people like rodney telling me how lucky I am to be paid to sit on my arse for 3 months and you proclaiming that it's 'cool'.

That's going to trigger me.

Unable to get through to their airline or travel insurer on the phone and frightened by the grim pictures from back home, the couple made the decision that Anjuna, Goa, would be an uncrowded place to while away the end of their trip. Having made their way there from Agra, they rented an apartment only to realise a few days later that the whole country was going into complete lockdown.

Now surviving on packet food and virtual prisoners in their apartment, Moss admits that "the holiday is definitely over" and describes being “in sunny Goa but not allowed outside the building, being within walking distance of the beach but not allowed in the sea, being so close to so many lovely eateries but with the shutters firmly down” as “a new form of water torture.”

Currently eating a diet of plain rice, bread, dal and poppadoms, Moss says the couple have no fresh food and are in danger of running out completely, with local shops closed and venturing outside meaning they risk being "beaten with bamboo poles by the police".

While the couple theoretically have a roof over their heads until April 21, they say that instead of organising a plan to get them home, the British Embassy has hung up the phone on them. Nicholson said: “Hundreds of British citizens are stranded in India, which is now on a 21-day lockdown. Many of us have food to last about one week week but some have none and are being kicked out of accommodations on a daily basis.

"The mood is changing here. We feel completely deserted by our government at this time of need. We are not being allowed out for exercise, to buy groceries and the information we are getting is at best sketchy and inconsistent. All transport and flights in and out of India are apparently on hold, although Germany and Israel are already planning on getting their citizens home.”

For its part, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London, which only ordered Britons abroad to return to the UK on March 23, the day before the India lockdown was announced, has advised that although it is “working with the Indian authorities and airlines to support British nationals who want to return to the UK” and has advised travellers to email the British High Commission in Delhi with their details, for now, they have no option but to abide by local rules and regulations.


“If you are a British national in India, you should be prepared to stay in the country until commercial flights resume,” its blunt advice states. “You will need to be ready to comply with local isolation, testing or quarantine requirements, and to rely on the local health system.”

Online petitions plead for signatures to demand that the UK government evacuates British tourists from Bali, while travellers in Cusco, some of whom declined earlier flights back to Britain on the grounds of cost and gloated about extending their stays in Latin America, are now also weighing their mistake, and face a strict indoor lockdown of up to 90 days.

While an airlift of some of the most vulnerable Britons took place on Wednesday, hundreds more are clamouring to return home, with backpackers at the Pariwana hostel complaining that they are “not sure how we’ll cope with being confined to our rooms for the next three months for 23 hours a day.”

While the government will no doubt have to cave in to pressure, some might say this misses an opportunity to teach people some of travel's most precious lessons. Accept the consequences of your decisions, live as the locals do, cope with adversity, survive in the absence of a safety net, be self-sufficient, learn stoicism, and appreciate what you have at home.
