All Joanna Lumley had to do was flutter her eyelids and flash some thigh and he was spaffing the cash all over the place
It would have been built if Khan hadn't cancelled it. It was a wonderful idea spoilt by dogmatic luddites.

Piss off, it was nothing to do with Kahn, it was a howler of a project, typifies Johnson's blasé attitude to public office and accountability, costed the taxpayer 10's of millions in wasted money and all in an area that needed a bridge like Edinburgh needs a castle.

It was a private venture that would have added millions a year to London. As such was vigoorusly opposed for purely political reasons, and cancelled for purely political reasons.

Perhaps you need to balance the above minority Remainer attitude with the destructive zealotry of the majority of Brexit supporters who were prepared for the country to suffer significant economic damage to achieve Brexit and indeed a majority of whom were prepared for personal or family job losses to achieve it.

For the Brexit thread, natch.

I wasn't making any point about that. However you could say the Brexiters wnated Brexit because they thought it was better, even if the economics are entirely positive, rather than wanting damage out of spite to otehr Brits.
It’s not just the economy brexiters are happy to sacrifice on their shrine of English purity.
Majority of Tory voters in England would be happy to see UK break up as price of Brexit, survey suggests

According to research by the Centre on Constitutional Change, which is based at Edinburgh University, Brexit is “dislodging long-held red lines about the [UK] union”. It says a majority of Conservative voters in England would prefer to press ahead with Brexit even if it led to the UK breaking up.

Clear majorities of English Conservatives would support Scottish independence or the collapse of the NI peace process as the price of Brexit

87% of (overwhelmingly unionist) leave voters in Northern Ireland see the collapse of the peace process as an acceptable price for Brexit ...

Nearly half (49%) of English Conservative voters do not think Scottish MPs should sit in the UK cabinet and 24% of Scottish Conservative voters agree with them

For £900K it would be a bit of waste if it were not.

But who cares when we've just spaffed (lining the pockets of their Brexit app chums) £250kk on another failed world beating project, it's hard to keep track of the pennies.

It was London council tax payers money wasn’t it? They voted for the idiot.

I’m with you though, let’s cut this stuff out.

And I didn’t have a problem with the spending, I had a problem with the decision making process. These are different things.

Yes f**king awful.

Almost as bad as the f**king idiot gotcha journalists repeating the same questions that have already been answered. Same thing every day at every briefing for 3 months or so.
