Weight Gain/Loss during lockdown so far?

Post by Jim Lahey »

As many of us are now into our third week of lockdown, how is the waistline?
I’m quite happy with my respectable 1kg weight gain. Was expecting worse given how bored I am and how much shite I’ve been eating.

Diet not as good as usual but compensating with increased exercise = staying steady

So , I mentioned this on the drinking thread - normally I’m 96-98 kg and usually bounce around that sort of mark. Been quaffing spirits pretty much daily for a few weeks and saw on my scales I was over 105kg !
A week now of ‘no booze unless with a meal’ and I’m already back to 103kg so quite hopeful another few weeks of running after the kids and I will be back to my normal buff ness.

The drinking is a killer.
I’ve been having a couple of beers/glasses of wine most nights when I normally wouldn’t.
Then the kids have been baking cookies etc., during the days.
Recipe for disaster

I've lost a couple of kg. I normally travel to a fair number of conferences and workshops, so staying in hotels, eating out, social drinking all part of that. Also not going to rugby matches and other social stuff cuts down on the booze, so eating healthier and drinking less without actually trying.

About the same
Trying to just drink on the weekends as I used to do
Have a small 'gym' in the garage with a bench and free weights so trying to use that each day
Also going out for a reasonable walk after my work (I hate running)

Not weighed myself but I'm clearly losing weight. The 20 mins of home exercise plus an hours walk is doing the job nicely.

I've been putting in a serious amount of exercise and have been losing weight for sure. Have probably been doing a bit too much exercise as I've been feeling too fatigued. So today was a total rest day and I'll be back at it tomorrow.

If everything goes to plan I'll have a six pack by the end of this lockdown (or die trying).

Down a couple of kilos so far as there's far fewer options to pick up takeaways or get deliveries now. And not going out on the Friday night for a skinful.

down 4.5 kilos to about 77, lightest ive been for many a year

Assuming lock down exists in its current state until early June Im hoping to come out of it another 5 or so lighter

Not travelling for work so far more structure in my eating, and whilst drinking more often it amounts to far less. Also the chances of walking past a rack of crisps has dwindled to pretty much zero

Don't feel able to raid the cupboard for late night snacking sessions (as I don't want to cause additional shopping trips by eating all the food!) and have been eating nowt but simple home cooked meals, whereas normally we'd have the odd takeaway or meal out. I don't drink so that's not a factor. Didn't do much exercise for the first couple of weeks but have started to get out on the bike each morning and doing some kettlebell stuff in the afternoon. So all in all, hoping that I'll have lost some weight already and a fair bit by the time this is over, but haven't checked the scales yet.

Down 5kg since lock down. Normally I work away from home so I ate in the hotel/restaurants most evenings, supplemented by 3 - 5 beers a night. Home is a veggie diet and no booze, so lifestyle has changed completely.

I'm pretty sure you've way over-estimated the amount of bile a human body can produce.

One trip to the shops a week. Only buy one or two 'indulgent' things that have to last all week. No snacking at or on the way home from work. Live in the country, so easy to go for long hike or bike without encountering anyone.

I've lost about 1kg, was already losing weight prior to lockdown & and was already off work so it's not changed a hell of a lot tbh. Overall, I've dropped about 5kg since January (95kg down to just under 90).

Can't go to the gym, but I have enough gear at home to get a decent workout in and can run & cycle obv.

I've just been eating sensible food and only having two proper meals a day (eat breakfast at around 11am then only snack till dinner). Have probably been drinking a bit more during lockdown but hasn't made that much of a difference.

As Womack said, I don't want to make more trips to the supermarket than I need to.

I'm essentially eating two small meals a day.

Dearie me, what an absolute bunch of benders.

Too scared to go to the supermarket and stock up, so you eat tiny little meals like a supermodel?

People getting by on bugger all food would be precisely what you'd want in a disaster.

Your shtick doesn't work - you got MrDominator's persona wrong on this one.

Mr Dominator didn't dominate on this occasion.

Pretty much maintaining the same weight for the last month. I needed to lose 2-3kg anyway but am starting the same.
More booze and crisps/nuts etc at home offset by a bucketload more exercise.
Joe Wicks with the kids in the morning and then 5-6km running or walking every evening.
Making a concerted effort to cut down on the bad stuff now and the exercise should do the rest but it's Easter this weekend so there goes that plan :uhoh:

Was actively trying to cut fat so weight was trending down anyway, but muscle has fallen off me lately as I’ve lost access to proper weights. Pushups only go so far :(
