Why don’t people eat crusts anymore?

Post by Openside »

I have a houseful of three adult children none of whom eat crusts, it is just another measure of how daddy and pathetic we are becoming!!

I just had the crust off the white sliced (don’t normally eat white bread) toasted and buttered , then toasted again. It was loverly with cooked breakfast.

I wasn’t actually referring to the ends of the bread which is my job to eat or they would just be thrown away. I was talking about the edges of the bread which I assume are too tough for their underdeveloped mandibles

You appear to be making a sweeping generalisation based on 3 people.

While it's not something I'd typically do, I don't see why leaving the crust would make someone pathetic?

For our generation if your mother cut the crusts off your bread for you it meant you were a right f*cking ponce. I'm sure things are different now.

Having them cut off for you is different to leaving them, certainly the former is a bit lame. At the very least remove them yourself.

Well there's no good reason, but if someone does feel the need to start eating their sandwich sans crust it feels less lame if they did it themselves rathe than have someone do it for them.

I don't think these people are getting someone to remove the crusts as a single part of an overall job. I think whoever makes the sandwich removes the crust.

Crusts are the best!

I mostly only eat from loaves baked sans pan these days, but when I was a kid would always save for last the bit where the loaf spilled over the pan. It's crazy, I know, but think it was probably the chewiest bit.

My elementary school had a pizza day each week and there were a few kids who didn't like 'crusts' (it was pretty awesome pizza with a wide, puffy edge). I wasn't one of either, but several kids would always beg those others for their crusts!

What's the rationale behind this? My Dad thought I was soft because I would throw away the apple core. Mind you I don't think he ever met a food he didn't like.

Can you measure the number of crusts thrown away per week and how many pensioners could survive on them and feed that metric back to me at the end of the week.

No daughter of Army not ex forces
No man about the house until 12 I guess, plus a slightly less draconian style of parenting.
