I have been delivering meals on wheels a lot during the last 7 weeks as the drivers who were over 70 were stood down (back this week).

I was more scared of passing something on to the clients than getting it myself and I went through heaps of sanitiser. (Had to put that in - [/Globus]

Good to have you back Globby - I was worried when you didn't respond to emails. Relieved. The injuries and the bug will certainly slow you down - I hope the lawns can survive your absence. :P

Here's the tale; I'll try and keep it brief.

Was out collecting and delivering food and pharmaceuticals to some of the local populace (mostly the elderly) but had a very nasty fall sustaining a few injuries.

Got carted off to Peterborough Hospital where they gave me a swab test in the ambulance which showed I had the ooh nasty so got bunged in the isolation ward. On oxygen for two days but thankfully no severe symptoms.

Suspected collar bone fracture and ribs. Having the X ray was a bit strange with everyone in full gear as they were by my bedside.

Turned out to be just severe bruising.

Before my stay a mate and I arranged for cloth masks to be made. An absolute angel of a seamtress made over 500 using knicker elastic to go round the ears. She's in the Sir Tom category!

I'm very slowly on the mend. No smell, taste or appetite as yet. This was useful when I was eating hospital food.

Relieved to be back at home now. The Management and I are in lockdown, which is incredibly boring.

Waiting for the test to see if I've built up immunity.

My wife has had the bug as well but she's recovered well. I'm still very tired. No energy.

Best wishes to you all. Hope you don't get it. It's not nice. Two in the ward died while I was in there.

But the nurses were terrific.

Does Globus exist when this place closes?
Or is it like a tree falling in an empty forest?

I fell out of a van, missing my footing having misjudged the height of the exit to the tarmac.

Luckily the van driver was a "first responder" who called a paramedic who gave me the once over.

I'm normally a social girl
I love to meet my mates
But lately with the virus here
We can't go out the gates.

You see, we are the 'oldies' now
We need to stay inside
If they haven't seen us for a while
They'll think we've upped and died.

They'll never know the things we did
Before we got this old
There wasn't any Facebook
So not everything was told.

We may seem sweet old ladies
Who would never be uncouth
But we grew up in the 60s -
If you only knew the truth!

There was sex and drugs and rock 'n roll
The pill and miniskirts
We smoked, we drank, we partied
And were quite outrageous flirts.

Then we settled down, got married
And turned into someone's mum,
Somebody's wife, then nana,
Who on earth did we become?

We didn't mind the change of pace
Because our lives were full
But to bury us before we're dead
Is like a red rag to a bull!

So here you find me stuck inside
For four weeks, maybe more
I finally found myself again
Then I had to close the door!

It didn’t really bother me
I'd while away the hour
I'd bake for all the family
But I've got no flaming flour!

Now Netflix is just wonderful
I like a gutsy thriller
I'm swooning over Idris
Or some random sexy killer.

At least I've got a stash of booze
For when I'm being idle
There's wine and whiskey, even gin
If I'm feeling suicidal!

So let's all drink to lockdown
To recovery and health
And hope this awful virus
Doesn't decimate our wealth.

We'll all get through the crisis
And be back to join our mates
Just hoping I'm not far too wide
To fit through the flaming gates!

Glad to see you are getting better Globus.

When we were in Switzerland a few months ago, I saw the name Globus in a number of cities we visited. I think there were department stores or shops with that name and it reminded me of PR. :o

Hope you avoid this utter blighter. I'm knackered.

Is it breathing issues? Have doctors suggested exercises for lungs, especially stuff similar to what advised for CF?

Nope. I was on oxygen for just a day and a night. Got whizzed home, I then had pneumonia!

Right now I am simply worn out. Back is bad (old rugby injuries) but I can get about at home without the frame and crutches.

Biggest issue is boredom and as we are a very social couple, not been able to meet friends and family.

Never watched so much telly in my life. Mainly the quiz programmes and history/geography ones.

But I've had a bash at my dear ukulele and a thrash on my drums.

What a funny business.

Hi all

I've just heard from The Management to advise that Globby is still very poorly as he tries to shake the effects of his brush with Covid. I am trying to set up a chat over the next day or two so any words of wisdom will be passed on.

That's one hell of a virus for some by the look of it.

That is the issue with it for most people in is a minor infection - if they show symptoms at all, but for some individuals (related to age and health issues) it appears devastating..
