Downrange weather not looking good.

But none the less will be checking in on this - finally a 21st century way into LEO.

Yeah, I reckon this one will be a scrub, sadly. Hopefully the weather will be kinder on Saturday.

Can't ever get complacent with spaceflight, but SpaceX have really proven their Falcon/Merlin setup...

Presumably clear conditions preferred. Doesn't look too windy and I don't imagine that cloud being too high and a rocket is likely to punch through pretty quick.

I'm assuming some safety concern in finding the pod in case of ejection. This is at the usual NASA lauchsite in Florida with the coast nearby?

Incomplete set of options makes logicians cry.

(Well it would if they were capable of emotion. Actually it will probably make them write some symbolic logic that is unintelligible to 99.999% of humanity).

Yeah, it's at Kennedy. Taking off from LC-39A which is pretty famous for shuttle & Apollo launches.

The weather is an issue for potential lightning strikes and also for retrieval of the capsule in the event of launch abort.

Basically when you're sending an exploding bomb* up in the air with two people strapped inside it, shit like lightning and bad sea conditions are not considered helpful.

* a carefully controlled explosion, hopefully but the point remains.

I'm sure stuff is... Astronauts doing practice stuff, a bit of chilling... just like before a game. Probably not youtube worthy though.

If you're meaning the launch at 4.30-ish pm, that's EST so you have another 5 hours if it's still go.

Has it been delayed since the OP?

Yes, I didn't realise it was hours away either.

I don't know if I have the patience to see this through.

Wow, the spacesuits have changed dramatically haven't they. You could almost pass that getup off as motorcycle gear.

Yeah, the SpaceX suits are a bit marmite but I think they look cool. A lot sleeker. Not sure you could EVA in them, mind!

I found some of the pre speal quite interesting. I probably don't need to see it again though.

I came to realise I probably haven't watched a launch since the 90's sometime.

Seems so, or at least downrange weather. I was looking a bit windy too toward the end there, the weather dude wasn't giving much away with his reports.

I don't imagine emigrating to Mars will be anymore affordable than one of his cars. I wonder what the cost of filling one of those spare seats will be?
