sonderlikkies isn't a word. Not in any language
I googled it and found this. Don't know if it's what he was on about.

There is a bucketload of shite afrikaans music. Would not waste any time on it though
When me and the missus did our big road trip there was loads of places where we could only get Afrikaans radio. I’ve tried finding the song that I loved that she hated that I would play at full volume.. it was called ‘Noor Allie’ or something and was a very cheesy duet.. catchy as fcuk mind.
Was this within the past 4-5 years? If yes, I think I know the song you refer.
So tell the rest of us as "Noor Allie" throws up nothing on Google

That’s it.

Oh man, that’s soo bad.

Big hit in the day, though. The time period when SA goalkeeper (Bailey?) won the FA Cup with Man U

The whole country stopped that day, to watch him.

More about the singer. Cora Marie was a popular singer (and a good one too) and listening to this I can't believe she put that out, except as maybe on a kids album

Gary Bailey was at ManU, Bruce Grobbelaar at Liverpool

Gary Bailey. That’s it

Everyone in the ‘hotel’ (expats etc) complex were gathered in the TV room to watch Gary win the day.

Good times.

Other ones were Gerrie Coetze etc. Parents told us we had to assemble for these big events. All good.

Ja, a lot of especially Afrikaans stuff are cheesy. But then a lot are pure poetry

Koos du Plessis - Kinders van die wind
Coenie de Villiers - Karoonag
Koos Kombuis - Lisa se klavier
Theuns Jordaan - Beautiful in Beaufortwes

ens.

I guess Corra Marie was not to bad. She's definitely better than that screeching banshee Sonja Harold. x(

Wat, is jy 'n Nama, nou ?

There is a show doing round the Cape, of a German missionary (Lutheran?) in Namakealamd, being regaled by a congregation member on the Nama version of ,"Nearer my God, to Thee". In Nama, Afrikaans and German.

The melody to this traditional dirge is suddenly changed to a catchy, welcoming tune - a true welcome of God.
Nope, but spent my army days on the border in the presence of some interesting Boesmanlanders.

Fantastic people. Met a few, myself.

Chilling at my desk listening to Lucky Dube, the musician who inspired this thread, whilst tidying up a few loose ends prior to the winter break here in QLD. Life is good. RIP Lucky
