Bored Legends /Hall of Fame

Post by kiwigreg369 »

As the bored is retired I think we should recognise those posters who contributed so much to the bored over the last 20 yrs. Not just posts, although that helped, but what they said and how they carried the conversation and contributed.

For me:
Sen - look at his ‘gone’ thread - loved and hated - but enhanced the debate
AC - multiple awards and prior recognitions - and importantly, a lot on rugby
Thomas - a lot of good posts, but more for me a lot of insightful and funny posts (loved the posting style)
JRP - a mix of Sen (but better) and AC - hugely opinionated and bit of a cnut, but some lovely wit with it
Enz - the nice guy (usually), the connector..
Quentin - for the first years he was the story and an absolute loon

I think some people bridged the SH/NH gap well - I had 9 yrs on the NH shift, 8 on SH. Others were occasionally influential (e.g. Jake), others harder to tell apart (e.g. the swarm - is there really a standout?, I still can’t tell the diff between C69 and Sefton.

My favourite grouping were the UK premiership supporters who got me out of the armchair with mini-KG to three years of season tickets at Quine - aitch, JMK26, Fatcat, Theo, SAm S, OS etc - many thanks.

I’m sure there was a Hall of Fame at some point ...

As Groucho Marx would have said - I don't want to belong to a club that would have JM, Thomas and AC as members.

Whatever your views on him, you'd have to include Globus. Always gets a a nuclear reaction, probably the most visible poster of the past 5 years.

It's the fact that people take him so seriously as well, I'm sure he just loves trolling people and has created this online alter-ego in which he is an elderly, well-to-do, countrified gent. Genuinely wouldn't be surprised if he was half his perceived age, not English and has never gone to a game of rugby in his life.

Jrp was a true titan of the bored. It was a shame he flounced after going all-in on the indy referendum.

Softie was a pretty big presence on the board in its early years, yet he doesn't even rate mention in the OP.

How fleeting is fame...

3 or 4 iterations of the board. Plenty have left or post less over that time.

I am reluctant to give a 'the swarm are all the same' thread any oxygen but when I started it was all IC. He was unprepared for a world where Ireland were going unbeaten and Garland and Eddie Jones dominated. I imagine he has found a small pub in Surrey where the locals have learned to accept him and his ramblings about the Commonwealth

How the hell don’t Chins and Dagless get a mention.

My favourite period was the night shift around 2005.. Noddy, Volts, RC, AntRobertson and the Asian Cabalists. And Waratah deserves a mention. the boredies were good fun. Ahh Good times
