Rugby Simulator Game v2

Post by Gordon Bennett »

The previous thread has been defunct for a while and has now been locked, it seems. More than reasonable given it hasn't been posted in for over 2 years.

Anyway, for those who were active in the game previously (backrow, Kovana, Odval, bobbity, earl the beaver, EverReady, Madness, BrokerGOBroke, Banana Man et. al.) there'll be a new season starting shortly with the same broadcasting method as I used originally.

If any new players are interested in signing up, then to create a player, just fill in the form below:

Forum Name:
Simming Name:
Provincial Allegiance: (England/Wales/Ireland/Scotland/NZ/Aus/RSA/Fra/Ita/Arg/Other - please specify)

Attacking/Defending (how do you want your player to play?) - Allocate 100 points across the 3 skill sets.
Attacking:
Defending:
Goal Kicking:

Special Ability (choose only 1 out of the following list):
Super Fit
Sticky Hands
Awesome Kick Catching
Bullet Pass
High Jumper
Lightning Speed
Electric Side Step
Super Strength
Godly Technique
Crash Ball Expert
Attacking Guru
Offloading Master
Fringe Defensive Brilliance
Wide Defense God
Rucking Demon
Mauling Expert
Explosive Punter
Huge Conversion Kicker

Positions - Choose up to 3 positions, split by percentage to add up to 100% (e.g. Mobile Prop - 50%, Scrummaging Prop 25%, Balanced Hooker 25%). The positions will effectively provide your player with the skills for those positions, so if you wanted to be a speedy hooker, then you might go 95% balanced hooker, 5% agile winger etc. Generally speaking, the more utility you make your player, the less focused (good for a particular position) they're likely to be.

Your players certainly seemed to have the most fights, as I recall.

The first game of the new season is on tonight (8pm NZT). No Cnuts feature in this one, but it's pretty much a test to see everything still works.

Match thread is here: http://www.cricsim.com/index.php?thread ... st-2829948

And here's the link to the match when it starts (it'll be blank until kickoff): http://www.cricsim.com/site/srlive.php

BOOYAH !
can returning players have some kind of bonus pls ? as I recall, I was utter nails :smug:

by the way, i never understood that --------()------ stuff :uhoh:
so please do a recap, ta

one final thing, is there some way to boost / tweak stats over time ? I felt a bit pigeonholed purely from my initial (extremely poorly thought out) form filling.
I want to be 50% metre making 2nd row 50% metre making flanker pls, removing that centre thing. I based it too much upon my own youthful playing days where I did fill in amongst the backs.

50% attacking, 50% defence
Fringe defensive brilliance
Bonus super power for returning player - Hair ruffler / annoying thorn in opposition side par excellence !

or give us ten bonus points to allocate to our skillz - I would make mine then 55% attacking 55% defending.
You HAVE to have some way of rewarding players for their longevity and continued interest in your fine game :)

This H--|-----/0----||-----/-----|--A

was about showing where on the pitch the ball is. H being the home team's try line, A being the Away team's try line || being the halfway, 0 being the ball etc.

Just to be handy as when I was building the output, some people were too lazy to read the "Now they're x metres on y's side of the halfway line"

As for getting a boost to your abilities, given that it's a new season, current season form will be at zero, so things will be levelled out a little. I'll change your rego as you've requested though as it's such a minor change.

Similar to Kovana is it possible to overhaul my dudes attributes. I did it prior to seeing the sim in action and def needs tweaks.

Either that or just register a new player?

Happy for you to make minor adjustments. There were only a couple of regos that were completely f**ked - most of them were pretty useful.

3 players got missed off the top. All added in now.

First Cnuts match of the season has a thread now. Match will probably be early next week, so there's a bit of time to make minor suggested changes to registrations, adjust the line-up or for new players to sign up.

Match thread is here: http://cricsim.com/index.php?threads/s6 ... uts.49700/

Do our players start from scratch post count-wise?
I would guess not, looking at the odds on the match thread.

Previous post counts go towards historic ability which is rated lower than post count from the current season. So, its weighted but previous seasons do still count.

Ah. Whoops. Yeah - that line-up's wrong. A couple of players missing. I've tidied that up. In come Goldenhaus, Ham and Morganpola.

Ok Cool. For Dan Larkinson:

Attacking: 50%
Defending: 30%
Goal Kicking: 20%

Special Ability:
Huge Conversion Kicker

Balanced Fly Half 60%
Running Fly Half 30%
Hole Running Full Back 10%

Edit: is it worthwhile having goalkick that high? I think I remember you mentioning that a low figure for that stat is ok?

Goal kicking at 20% and with the huge conversion kicker bonus should be okay. It's at the top end of the necessary. Much more than that and your player will only be good for kicking at goal and nothing else. Could go with a couple less on the GK if you wanted.

Can I make some subtle alterations to Billy Morganpola?

If so can I stay up to date and change his name to Billy Undercurry?

Attributes
Attacking 75%
Defence 25%

Metre making flanker 55%
Balanced No 8 40%
Powerful winger 5%

Crash ball expert

I changed Morganpola a bit. Changing names of players is a bit annoying, so I'd prefer not to do that.

Morganpola is now:

Balanced #8 - 75%
Metre Making Flanker - 20%
Powerful Winger - 5%
Att 75
Def 25
Ability: Crash Ball Expert.

I think changing the setup to the one you've outlined would be too big a change and significantly alter your role. Maybe complete the transition at the end of this season?

Made these changes, except the Huge Conversion Kicker special ability isn't any use for the setup you've got. I've left it at Godly Technique, which has more value for your position.

Hopefully the Cnuts will turn out to be genuine contender and the Typhoons aren’t the Waratahs of this competition.
