Sounds serious whatever it is.
Witness Craig Milroy, who saw the aftermath of the incident from an office building nearby, said he had seen four people taken away in ambulances.

He told the PA news agency: "I saw a man lying on the ground, of African descent, with no shoes on. He was on the ground with someone holding his side - I don't know if it was a bullet wound, a stab wound, or what it was."

Lots of noise on twitter about a multiple stabbing. Of course it is dangerous to draw conclusions from Twitter, however Nicola Sturgeon has tweeted and asked people to stay away from the affected area so we can safely assume it is a very serious incident.

Hearing its much worse than whats been reported so far. Possibly 7 including police officer killed and more than one shot by armed response.

Not heard anything suggesting more - have heard 4 taken to hospital so might be 7 casualties, 3 dead 4 injured.

Don't think it's the hotel. There is a hostel next door.

Everything I've seen says Park Inn Hotel, but it's early days.

That was a wee while ago and 3rd hand. Doesn't look to be as bad as that.

Police have confirmed 6 people in hospital for treatment of wounds, including the police officer who is in a critical but stable condition.

What does critical but stable condition mean?

Sustained serious wound(s), but not deteriorating in terms of pulse, blood loss etc?

I'm sure someone with a better medical knowledge than me can explain, but I think that critical means it's something that would put you in intensive care and require clinical intervention to save your life, and stable means that their condition is not deteriorating.

ICU - so he/she is getting all the medical care he/she can and is medically stabilised. But that's no guarantee of surviving a grievous wound.

No, but it seems that he killed 2 people in the stairwell and one of those has been described as “African”, stabber was apparently shot by the police also in the stairwell.

All in a hotel housing a few refugees

Take what you want from that

Mr Mulroy says he and his colleagues were told to go back into their office and lock the door - and were there for some time before being allowed out.
"It is not something you expect to see on a Friday in Glasgow," he adds. "It was a bit of a shock."

It is terrible news.. especially after Reading...

Could be anything from a few individuals having an argument about money/women, to brining something over from their homeland to racially motivated or Islamic related,, or just a nutter
