It’s a stereotype but even the supermarkets are full of amazing stuff.

(Their meat is crap).

I know it's quite sad to admit it, but I've not looked into what the local (St. Galen) food/cuisine will be like ... crappo of me, yep. That said, I'd like to think that because I've lived all over the globe, I'm fairly adaptable. Looking forward to the on-tap cheese, chocolate, watches, gold and tax free stuff of course though

Their bread, cheese , cured and dried meats are top notch. Fruit and veg have the best of the Italian market gardens.

It’s just they don’t age fresh meat at all, so it’s expensive (average steal 100 quid a kilo) and rubbish.

Holy god he was serious about the bananas thing. That has to be a crime.

Roquefort is the world best cheese.

Whoah, that's some serious outlay for meat - I'll seek out a discounter for sure. I'm not averse to paying top for quality, but if its overpriced, I'll body swerve. Or, I'll go tofu. As long as the cheese is up to scratch, I'll be content. My COL allowances seem generous, so I reckon I'll be ok in the long term.

Drive to Germany or France for your meat. Save a bloody fortune.

You’ll be fine, it’s just a trip to Germany (1/2 hour for you). The pork is good.

What I did was bring back vacuum packed steak every time I went to the UK. And the Argentinian beef is excellent.

There’s a galaxy between hand swooshed Roquefort and any other cheese.

Foie Gras, the actual liver, lightly pan fried, so still pink in the middle, served with a toasted brioche bun.

Yum,yum, yum.

EDIT With a decent Sauternes, or bottle of Amontillado to wash it down.

Yep, cross border shopping seems sensible. I know German shops way back in the days of Penny Markt, so will defo be making those trips.

On a day to day basis it must be one of the various curries I make.

BUT if we are talking unrestricted favourite I’d have to say Bistecca alla Fiorentina.

Edit. Knew I’d spell alla wrong ;)

Yeah, but could substitute yam, cassava, kumara for taro and it's still good.

Personally I'm not so keen on those choices. Umu cooked breadfruit at an absolute stretch but taro all the way!

You see you’re close, but Fourme d’Amberte is the correct answer

Pasturised or unpasturised?

Just a very good nicely sauced seafood chowder is kind of my thing, with toasted brioche for dipping.

But tbf you can't go passed a whitebait patty sandwiche, with a squeeze of lemon and salt and pepper.

But then I am a humble and plain type person.

Malaysian. Nasi Lemak, Laksa, Mee Goreng. Such a good variety of flavour and texture across the board. Even the drinks they make like Chendol. They just have taste and flavour everywhere.
