My login registration got lost in the mail (probably bulk deleted by Enzedder along with the spambot applications) so I posted my shit on a feral soccer forum for about 5 years instead, where you could join with only a generic free email address.
Occasionally visited here in the meantime before signing up around 2007-08.

1999 RWC. First time I used the internet was '99 and was constantly reading about rugby on PR, Rugbyheaven, scrum.com etc. Forum was dead back then so I didn't interest me until RWC'11 when Tonga beat France and I wanted to read every reaction on the media/internet about it, so I ventured back.

We haven’t done this for a while. Anyway, it was all down to an (in)famous saffa poster, who maybe knows sweet FA about SA rugby Players but does have an intimate knowledge of the penal system in SE Asia
) who made a comment about then dirtiest team he played against and named my team as the worst. I created my handle and the rest is history. Most be some 20 years ago or thereabouts...FML...

But other than that we were pretty cool. Nothing special, apart from the odd testicle grab, occasionally eye gouge and the once in a while gobbing in the face.

Re: How did you learn about the PR Forum?
Simon S-B on rec.sport.rugby.union mentioned it when answering a question about which web-based forums rather than Usenet forums were hoovering up existing or prospective rsru posters.
I used to visit the Planet Rugby website frequently for rugby news, match reviews etc and never so much as noticed there was a forum.

Re: How did you learn about the PR Forum?
I was browsing a random Graun match thread and someone mentioned PR. There were various responses along the lines of ‘I wouldn’t post there’, ‘toxic swamp’ and ‘vicious sociopaths’, so, naturally, I dropped in. I think the first thread I browsed was Dozy vs the Balham hammers, so that was that, obvs...
Re: How did you learn about the PR Forum?
I used to post on scrum.com and someone mentioned it. I came for a gander in 2001 or so and it was in that god awful scrolling format thread thing so I stayed away.
I registered during the 2003 RWC.

PR Homepage but completely lost track of when. Lurked for a while and thought that this was the perfect place for someone who has to pretend to work on a PC most of the day and talk sh!te to other numpties. After a while I realised I have misjudged the place. It's the pefect place to talk absolute sh!te etc...

Not guilty - we didn't have a spam problem back then - it came with the advent of the new board in 2012.
You probably just never authenticated your email address.
Re: How did you learn about the PR Forum?
Someone on the crappy BBC 606 rugby pages said it was a forum of arseholes. I had to check it out.
Re: How did you learn about the PR Forum?
Same. I was living in a place with little or no tv coverage and certainly no rugby folk to speak of or to.shanky wrote:Pretty sure that’s what I did also. Around the time of the 03 RWCAli's Choice wrote:I google searched 'rugby forum' and this was one of the options.

Found it leading up to the time that NH team won the world cup.
Can't remember the team that won as it was so long ago.

What a cess pit the 606 forums were. Sometimes my incoherent posts would get published on the official BBC sport match reports though which was fun.

Lions 05. Not very much to interest a neutral on Day 1, but the following day was the attempt on BOD’s life......
Re: How did you learn about the PR Forum?
I had forgotten about that. A sickening episode and a low point in world rugby. Has there ever been much comment on this act of thuggery?Sandstorm wrote:Lions 05. Not very much to interest a neutral on Day 1, but the following day was the attempt on BOD’s life......

Never even saw the Forum icon. Terrible website design.
2003 a Kiwi co-worker showed me a thread where the All Blacks were being impugned.
Hooked
