Looking forward to the contest of the loose forwards, in particular Kirifi and Savea vs Cane and Boshier at the breakdown. It will be war at the ruck contest.

Also looking forward to Jordie Barrett vs Damien McKenzie. Dmac has looked good this year at 15, now that he can concentrate on one position and he is no longer having to prove to Steve Hansen that he is also a test standard no.10. Jordie Barrett looked good prior to the COVID-19 break and I expect this contest to be crucial in deciding the match.

In many ways these two teams have similar strengths and weaknesses. They both have suspect looking tight fives, but a world class TH prop. Both teams have exciting backrows. Both teams have one quality player in the halves, and another who is out of form. Both teams have exciting, attacking backlines and a world class 15.

The Hurricanes looks to have a better bench, and the impact of the Canes' reserves in the last 20 minutes could make a huge difference.

In saying that, I expect the Chiefs to win due to their superiority at 10. Aaron Cruden has been building nicely into this competition and the difference in quality and class between him and Jackson Garden-Bachop is like night and day.

Any Canes or Chiefs fans left on the bored?

Looks like it's just me. I'll spend one half cheering for the Chiefs and one for the Magpies players in the Canes.

Scratch that, no Magpies starting this week ... :x

Devon flanders is on the bench.

As an aside, does Reed Princep have naughty photos of Jason Holland?

Clearly him and Blackwell have photos of the coaches and the CEO.

The Crusaders have given plenty of Magpie players opportunities. Maybe you can jump onboard the Crusaders train.

Oops - thought this game was in the caketin so didn't bother with a thread; or getting a ticket.

Too sore to go anyway.

McKenzie vs Barrett is a key match-up. These two are going head to head for the All Black no.23 jersey, IMO.

What has happened to Walker-Leware? He's not even opn the bench anymore.

Something is seriously rotten in the Canes. Time to forget about this season and the next, have a top to bottom clean out. Offer Chris Boyd + a forwards coach, a 1st 5, a bunch of tight forwards some ridiculous money to transfer.

I'm just staggered that the Hurricanes went into the season with Jackson Garden-Bachop as their first choice no.10. He's not wearing 10 because of injuries, he's their first choice player and this was their Plan A. That's just ridiculous. In contrast the Blues have Otere Black, Beauden Barrett, and Dan Carter.

But..but
They just sacked their best 1st 5 because they've got no money.

Been a bit hard to get behind the hurricanes this year, what with my favourite player leaving. I don’t think anyone expected any sort of success and, unfortunately, that has been the case.

90 minutes to kick off and it looks to be about 80 minutes before the rains hits.

We should be used to playing in the wet by now

Geez bloody Hamilton weather!! Christ and we got Garden-Bachop at 10, and they tend to be pretty important in the rain!! Still looking forward to game. I not sure how they got caught without more depth at 10, and assume they just couldn't find one they could afford after those poaching blues bastards got Black and BB!!!! Mind you I was pissed we didn't chase tiann Falcon a couple of years back as I had been keen on him at 10 until injuries struck! I just hope canes are looking for a decent 10, perhaps a lock or 2 and maybe a coach for next year? Not knocking Holland as coach, just wonder if he came in too early and perhaps we can get Hammer to came back! ;)

It's as if the hurricanes were completely caught off guard with BB announcing his departure. No-one can convince me that their long term roster management plan included having JGB as their starting no.10. This is my quick attempt at ranking the top ten fist fives in NZ (not incl Dan Carter) and it's unbelievable that the Canes couldn't sign one of them and offer them the Canes no.10 jersey;

Mo'unga
Cruden
Barrett
Ioane
Black
McKenzie
Hunt
Perofeta
Gatland
Plummer

We could all argue the merits of your ranking AC but your point would stand. JGB should be top 5. He isn’t even top 10.

It started to rain briefly - then it stopped and the clouds have lifted - it just may be a dry game.

I’d put David Havilli in there just behind DMac.
Go the Chiefs. Need a win. It would rankle to lose to a team as clueless as the Canes.

 4 years of mediocrity under Holland or the Hammetuer is still 4 years of mediocrity, I guess the key difference is the Hammeteur will get rid Ardie, Coles and TJ and Aso will leave in support of them

But, back to 10, there's an actual talented young 10 playing club rugby in HB this weekend who didn't get a look in at the Canes.

How on earth does Ben May keep getting contracts in Super Rugby? He's the softest prop in world rugby.

That chip was a forward killer from Jordie. The Hurricanes has been under the pump and when they got the turnover he goes to the aimless short kick play to start the defence all over again.

Canes 7 is ruining game with constant cheating - off feet, interfering with play, ahead of last feet...

Chiefs only on game as Canes have worse scrum. Look clueless.

That’s some tackle by Kirifi to level Ah Kuoi.

Ah Kuoi is a beast.Especially for a twenty year old.
