If you get tested you do not have to isolate until your results. Only if you have symptoms.
Sounds like she did nothing wrong

Unless she left Melbourne without a valid reason. But there is no requirement to isolate waiting on results. So by the time you get your positive result (4 days) you could have been in close contact with hundreds of people

I would imagine Australian companies would be doing something similar and that it's probably something that would have been mandated at a government level?

I don't know how it worked for the self employed here, but I think they were probably eligible for the wage subsidy to ensure there was no disincentive to doing the right thing.

I'm sure authorities in Oz will have gone through the same consideration.

That second example is a real head shaker.

Jobkeeper is for a downturn in business, not if you are off sick for a week.
They have now put in place a $300 payment for casual staff as a sick pay to stay home. Most tradies pull $1500/week. Again, why would you stay home if you feel unwell?

Meanwhile in Queensland the three chicks who lied about their trip to Melbourne are getting kicked about because of their race apparently. Yeah it's not like we have a spreading issue due to these three bints or anything. Triple J can fudge right off with their WOKE agenda.

Still waiting on a certain ex NRL player to announce that God's wraith had descended on Melbourne

What the fvck has their race got to do with it?

Apparently they are being targeted and discriminated against because of it.

I’ve had two family members tested in the last 3 weeks including my wife, both were told to isolate until they got their results which took 2 days.
Now, you may not have to by law isolate, but that doesn’t give her free reign to journey out to smallish country towns for a fecking tour of the place. Not sure how anyone could come to the conclusion she did nothing wrong. It was stupid, dangerous and cost small businesses a lot of money.

No, if you get tested you have to go straight home afterwards and isolate until you get the results.

It’s the directive that’s been repeated over and over again, and would’ve been reinforced to her at the test.

A mate who does contact tracing sent me this earlier:

Quote:
I just spoke to a woman who tested positive to covid two weeks ago. She then goes on to tell me she can not speak to me because she is driving and driving with other people in the car. But she does feel OK now, I can fudge off, and she is too busy to answer questions about where she has been or is going. This is today in Dandenong South.

I read somewhere one in four people in Victoria who have Covid are like this.

What in the actual fudge? Do you not pay attention to the stuff they give you when tested? It's basically a cheat sheet on how to isolate and what you need to do if you share a house with people (own space, cups, cutlery etc).

Thing is, I'm buggered if I can spot in the current Vic Chief Health Officer Directions a duty on all persons tested to self-isolate or self-quarantine until the person receives the results. And the current (from 30 July) directions are a tad stricter than earlier ones, so I understand.

Persons who are close contacts under the Diagnosed persons and close contacts direction certainly face more restrictions on their movement than other people in their area, but the woman trapper spoke of may not have been a close contact.

MM, my son in Melbourne coughed at work - sent straight to a test, and was directed to self isolate pending the result. His workplace shut down until he received the result.

Le sigh. Looks like we're going to stage 4 lockdown on Wednesday.

Lucky I just got a short back and sides.

Weird getting your haircut with both you and the stylist wearing masks.

What does level 4 entail?

Here in UK we have stopped opening up a few things as cases have started to go up again. This virus is an uncompromising, tough bastar*. The new cases seem to be in clusters - places of work or communities.

Yep...

Because some of the testing sites are in shopping centre/Bunnings carparks there were too many people doing a bit of shopping following their tests.

It was a massive talking point weeks ago, and the consistent directive is to go straight home.

The testing site near my local Bunnings has signs everywhere telling people not to enter and go straight home.

Everyone who is tested is instructed to isolate.

Anyone who gets tested and doesn't self isolate is quite simply a selfish f**king idiot.

People are selfish

The majority of people do the right thing. But remember there are share flats of groups of 24 year old males. Do you think they aren’t having beers on the weekend together? If one feels sick on Monday are the all downing tools and getting tested?

You and I would do the right thing, unfortunately there are people who don’t. I would be paid my full wage if I had to stay home and wait for results. Others won’t.

People aren’t following the directives, there isn’t the community buy in like in NZ.

I was going to post an article about how Sweden seems to be one of the only countries to not be looking at a 2nd peak right now. Of course any final outcomes are far from certain. It seems changing behaviour, especially in public t keep up social distancing is a bigger factor than lockdowns.

1 in 4 is pretty damning. If people aren't prepared to play the game in a relatively easy scenario I don't see how you get ahead.

Ah. So that is the reason they are being targeted. Broken racist Australia.

Sweden cruising these days! Beach was packed today. Well, the sandy bit next to the lake anyway. Masks, shmasks. No one wears those bastards. Guess we hit the nerd immunity or something - sort your shit out Australia.

I was going to post an article about how Sweden seems to be one of the only countries to not be looking at a 2nd peak right now. Of course any final outcomes are far from certain. It seems changing behaviour, especially in public t keep up social distancing is a bigger factor than lockdowns.

Is that true? They don't seem to have a lower number of new cases than their nordic neighbours over the last few days.

Maybe you read it the multiple times it's been mentioned on this thread?

Nah, there's too many tiresome cvnts on this bored, such as yourself, for me to read pages of opinionated bullshit by non-experts.

I'm guessing you weren't around in the days of the Voltman log in.

I remember that plank. Did he change his nick to GoN or are they both that thick?

I just spoke to a woman who tested positive to covid two weeks ago. She then goes on to tell me she can not speak to me because she is driving and driving with other people in the car. But she does feel OK now, I can fudge off, and she is too busy to answer questions about where she has been or is going. This is today in Dandenong South.

I read somewhere one in four people in Victoria who have Covid are like this.

I have read somewhere that one in 4 Victorians is from new Zealand or Queensland. Co incidence?

That’s shit.
Shutting down might be the only way but I’m not sure the conditions are going to work for one state to go it alone.

"If people wish to wear masks, of course they can but I don't think it's essential at this point in time," Dr Young told reporters today.

"When people go to supermarkets, my advice is, whether or not you need it, get one of those really big trolleys and just think, use that trolley as a circle around you.

Le sigh. Looks like we're going to stage 4 lockdown on Wednesday.

Lucky I just got a short back and sides.

Weird getting your haircut with both you and the stylist wearing masks.

What does level 4 entail?
No-one is sure. That is most of the problem.

This report claims:

Quote:
According to The Herald Sun, only supermarkets, pharmacies and service stations will be allowed to keep trading in Melbourne, with a possible exception carved out for hardware stores, which could stay open for tradies only. Cafes and restaurants will be able to provide takeaway services.

Getting there, but takeaways were fully closed in NZ L4 and only essential tradespeople were allowed to do emergency work. Trade desks were able to operate to supply them but not for general construction work.

Also, there's not much point in having Melbourne at L4 and the rest of VIC at L3 unless there is a hard border around the city. :?
