The living embodiment of evil that was Perence Shiri, died yesterday

Why would Zimbos celebrate the death of someone you ask, well for those unfamiliar with Zimbabwean history, shortly after independence, Mugabe ordered the N Korean trained 5th brigade to head down to a province called Matabeleland and do a bit of “ethnic cleansing” or in Zims case tribal cleansing.
Conservative estimates are that they slaughtered 20,000 people, most commentators think the number was far higher, more likely up to 90,000
Their commander was one P Shiri, he “acquired” a farm in the area that I farmed in, at this stage his title was Air Vice Marshall Shiri, the rumours coming from his farm were that he was ruthless with his labour force, to the extent they were slaves, there was even stories that, anyone questioning his management practices, would “disappear”
One evening after cricket practice, my team mates and I were in the bar of the local country club, he was in there drinking when someone, not from our group thankfully, said something he took offence to, he got up stormed out and returned with an AK47 and started waiving it about threatening all sorts of things, from my position under the table we were at , I can remember shitting myself something chronic, thinking this might be it, thankfully one of his party managed to convince him that even he couldn’t get away with shooting up such a public place
So good riddance to you evil piece of shit, I hope you spend an eternity in a place that could be called hell, getting some minion shoving pineapples up your ass and I hope that every time feels like the first time :x

Isn't NZ a great place that we can take you in from that, and you are still able to slag off our socially conscious Labour government online at will.

You are welcome.

What an awful person you are Muttonbird . Having said that saying you’ve contributed more to New Zealand than Muttonbird is setting a low bar for yourself.

I know very little about Zimbabwe's history. I'd like to learn more about it one day though.

Those two tribes have always been enemies, haven't they? Or am I reading too much Wilbur Smith?

Black Jesus was the most evil Mugabe henchman.

His command of Zim forces during the battle of Kinshasa, probably did ensure a Zim victory. Zim were heavily out numbered 20 to 1, and only had airforce and Zim SAS deployed (he led the SAS on the ground hence airforce rank). The much larger Rwandan and Ugandan forces were routed by the brutal bastard. Zim even lost half the airport it held with its tiny force at one point during the battle, he forced the pilots to keep taking off under direct ground fire (he wasn't called Black Jesus for nothing, if they refused he could decide if they lived or died).

That was the start of the Second Congo War which killed 6 million people. If it wasn't for Black Jesus making his stand in Kinshasa at the very start, Kabila would've been captured/killed the war wouldn't have happened and Rwanda/Uganda would've installed a new government.

 Solid historical sources.

Quote:
He met his fourth wife, a Tadjik woman named Mokhiniso Rakhimova, in a WHSmith bookstore in London. The two fell in love and married in May 2000. She was a law student studying at Moscow University and younger than he by 39 years. On their relationship, Smith said:

"It really was love at first sight—and now she's got the best English teacher in the world. Of course people ask about the age gap, but I just say, 'What's 39 years?' Sure, she's young enough to be my daughter, so what?"

Yes there have always been “tensions” between the two tribes, ever since the days of Lobengula, a Matabele King, a descendant of the Zulu tribe.

Timeline fits. Starts the Gukurahundi in 1983. Signs for the Chicago bulls 1984.

No it's still part of the army, not the air force. But I think Zim SAS draw commanding officers from the army or air force? They've always been based at Harare airport, their operations have always been tightly linked to the air force.

His actual job during the 2nd Congo War was basically brigadier, so he was massively over ranked for what he was doing anyway. 2nd Congo War is what f**ked Zim, and this guy was a big part of that. Deployed the air force and all the special forces, they did much better than anyone expected and f**ked everyone up. This then increased the national debt as the war was costing so much, defaulted on an IMF loan (a stupid choice by Mugabe). Massive cash flow issues, Mugabe still needed to provide cash to his supporters but now had no money, farm invasions etc instead of cash payments. Then total collapse. Now days Zim are desperate for an IMF loan but can't get one as how would they ever repay it, so still total collapse.

Anyone has an insight into this huge reparations deal for white farmers ?

Why now, who will pay for it, how is it viewed by the majority of the population ?

I haven’t even looked into it, they (Zim Govt) can’t afford to pay their doctors, civil servants, electricity bills, water sanitation and the rest, where the hell are they going to find 4 billion US, unless of course they were planning on paying us out in Zim US dollars, which means we’ll probably get paid the equivalent of US $25.50 per farm
As for who will pay for it, they are planning to sell off govt bonds that no one in their right mind would buy, unless of course the Brit govt get a conscience and chip in, which I doubt will happen

I've really got to find out more about this subject now. Be interested to know how much reparations are being paid out in proportion to the value of the land.

There were roughly 4000 commercial farmers in Zim and the estimations vary between 2000-3500 being evicted, so even if you take the lowest figure of 2000 then you average out at US$ 200,000 per farm, an absolute pittance.
The butchery on our farm alone was worth more than that, it really is a joke but I guess whatever gets paid out will be better than the zero we have received so far :?

I'm genuinely interested in the percentage terms of the reparations, but your figures provide with me some sort of ballpark indication.
