What's clear is that the run of albums from 1 through to Physical Graffiti is the greatest run of quality ever by a rock band. Nobody really comes close.

Yeah fool in the rain. The Bonham, Purdie Porcaro shuffle. I actually don't like the song. The drumming is epic.

Back on topic - III is probably my favourite LZ album alongside Physical Graffiti. II is also fantastic. I and IV a bit lower then the quality falls off a bit for me (though how Wearing and Tearing got passed over for an earlier release is beyond me as it is an amazing track).

It's a good call but sadly it is wrong on the basis of the diversity (and inclusion) of music, musicianship, influence, innovation and the LZ heights are higher. And the Stones know it. Still a very good call.

I see where you're coming from. III is so important in terms of their development. It basically echoes through the rest of their work

PG is probably their most adult and sophisticated record, and hugely innovative. Ten Years Gone is a masterpiece.

I is just... imagine being around in '68/'69 and suddenly LZ I turns up. It is groundbreaking and genremaking.

IV so get sick of. But it has Stairway and unfortunately that's the greateat risk song ever written. It just is. Also Black Dog (top 3 rock riff ever) and Levee. I kind of hate Levee but the drumming is apex drumming.

I've worn out vinyl copies of I-IV but it's a bit more than that. No other band from the era have been sued as much as Zeppelin.

They gave themselves writing credits for songs which they clearly had copied wholesale - melodies, riffs and lyrics - from others. And they always had to be sued - many times by many different artists - to acknowledge what is plain to anyone with ears. Page in an interview blamed Plant for all the lawsuits - saying it was Plant's job to change the lyrics but he was too lazy - ffs.

Thank you, Derriz. Riffs have been reimagined, reinterpreted but Led Zep lifted entire songs - lyrics/melodies/song titles even and never gave an ounce of credit. As much as I enjoy listening to them, it’s a shit move. I don’t recall any other band of their stature doing a ‘Dazed and Confused”.

Led Zeppelin are a great band and certainly are not the only English group of the era who where heavily "influenced" by early 20s and 30s blues, particularly Delta Blues.

another old bluesy cracker. sometimes i think zep 1 is my favourite album, then graffiti, then 2, etc, etc..
