https://rugby365.com/tournaments/super- ... us-injury/Head coach John Dobson confirmed that Sergeal Petersen’s leg injury is “serious”. The wing suffered the injury during his team’s 23-17 win over the Lions in their Super Rugby Unlocked fixture at Newlands on Saturday.
The injury forced Dobson to reshuffle his backline in the second half.
“Sergeal has a significant quad injury,” Dobson told reporters after the match.
“He felt it go. It’s serious and he will be out for quite a while I think.”
There was also some concern for flyhalf Damian Willemse, who left the field on a medical cart at the end of the game.
“He [Willemse] has got what you guys call haematomas. He should be okay; he is walking around the changeroom.

Great win by WP. Bulls are on another league.
WP have a wealth of flyhalfs. Christopher Shreuder was just as talented as a schoolboy for Grey College. Will probably play for Maties in Varsity Cup

Although I thought Elton had a solid, composed game apart from the intercept pass from a split second decision while on attack

Re: SA rugby return to play
I think the Cheetahs are on a mission to make SARU look stupid for dropping them from Pro14 rugby. After a few rounds they look much more hungry to win than any of the other teams.
The Bulls forwards have played like crap for 2 games in a row now. No intensity at all in the loose play, and not sure what is it with the strategy of runners taking on the gain line on their own without support. The amount of turnovers the Bulls conceded over the last 2 games for runners being isolated are crazy. At the moment it appears that Jake's game plan is stuck in an era when defensive patterns were not so effective and could get away with one off runners taking on the gain line. No use having a good set of forwards if they are all playing like they need to do everything on their own.
When it comes to the U21 competition, the Bulls do seem to be in a different league than the rest right now. And like it was mentioned before, it is great that the U21 games are streamed live on Youtube and also available as recorded games afterwards. Been enjoying watching all those games so far.

https://www.iol.co.za/sport/rugby/super ... 087e58850bThe Lions have become the first team to battle the spectre of Covid-19 after the union revealed yesterday that four of their players have tested positive for the virus.
The as yet unidentified players have been removed from the squad with immediate effect and are all asymptomatic, a media statement from the Lions read.
The statement continued that, despite the setback, the team was still preparing for their clash against the Cheetahs this weekend in Round 3 of Super Rugby Unlocked on Saturday afternoon.
Another round of tests will be done before the fixture.
The Lions have already lost Willem Alberts due to the Covid-19 concerns. Last week, the former Springbok withdrew from the team to enter self-isolation after coming into close contact with a positive case.
The 'Bone Collector' is likely to miss Saturday's encounter, and possibly also next weekend's match against the Griquas, as he completes his quarantine period.

Re: SA rugby return to play
https://rugby365.com/tournaments/super- ... -19-poser/South Africa’s new domestic competition, Super Rugby Unlocked, has been cast under a cloud of uncertainty as a result of a COVID-19 outbreak.
It has been confirmed that the outbreak is related to the Round Two match between the Stormers and Lions at Newlands last Saturday – a game won 23-17 by the Cape Town franchise.
It has resulted in a very disrupted build-up to this week’s Round Three matches – with the Stormers set to play the Pumas in Nelspruit on Friday and the Lions hosting the table-topping Cheetahs on Saturday.
The biggest disruption was when news broke on Wednesday that two of the Stormers’ players – World Cup-winning prop Steven Kitshoff and hooker Siyabonga Ntubeni – had to be isolated according to COVID-19 protocols, after coming into contact with someone who has tested positive for the virus.
...
Stormers coach John Dobson, speaking during a virtual media briefing from Nelspruit, confirmed that the outbreak is related to this past weekend’s Round Two encounter.
“All our players were tested on Tuesday [October, 20] and for the fifth week in a row, everybody was negative,” Dobson said. giving the assurance that the Cape Town outfit has not had a single positive case.
“[However], the protocols are pretty clear,” the coach said, adding: “The two teams involved [Stormers and Lions], as well as SA Rugby, review that and identify players that were within that contact zone to be excluded.
“Unfortunately Steven [Kitshoff] and Scarra [Ntubeni] were.
“So, you can work it out, it is probably based on a scrum, or something like that.
“They are now excluded [in isolation] for 10 days.”
He added that all the Stormers players and staff have tested negative.
The Lions, however, have four positive cases.
“These players, all of whom are asymptomatic, have been removed from the squad,” the Lions said in a statement.
The Lions insisted that all protocols have been kept and the relevant parties have been informed.
“We are ready and preparing for the Cheetahs at Ellis Park this weekend,” the statement said, adding that the Lions team will be retested before Saturday’s game.
The Lions have not released the names of the players who tested positive, but details are expected to emerge when they name their team on Thursday and the positive cases are left out of the matchday squad.
Dobson explained how the drama unfolded in the last few weeks.
“If a player tests positive and he trained, the medical team has to review the training footage to see who crossed the contact threshold,” the Stormers coach explained.
“This [outbreak] was obviously during a match, because it was us [Stormers] against the Lions.
“It was somebody who had limited involvement in terms of game time. They reviewed it and our players who were identified were Kitsy and Scarra.
“They are both COVID-negative at the moment.”
He said the Lions would have followed the protocols since the revelation of the positive cases and they would have done contact tracing themselves.
“Kitsy and Scarra are a bit bewildered, as they are negative and were told they can’t play.
“However, for the integrity of the tournament and respect for the situation, we are very accepting of it.”
